Built in 1974, Dolphin Head Golf Course is constantly being renovated to improve the quality of the game. The course, designed by Gary Player and Ron Kirby, successfully blends the course into the surrounding homes and beautiful forestry of oaks and pines. Wildlife is also a natural asset of this course, which is located close to the Port Royal Sound. Players regularly see great blue herons and white egrets, as well as deer and turtles.
The golf course has several different elements that add an interesting level of difficulty, such as sand bunkers that range in size from small to very large and water hazards come into play on at least 13 holes. The slightly elevated greens and long par 3s are trademarks of the 18-hole, private course.
