Village Greens Golf Club was opened in 1969 as a result of a group of avid golfers who wanted to bring a public golf course to their community. They chose a parcel of land, formerly used as farmland, with a beautiful location nestled into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. They preserved the natural beauty of the landscape, keeping the lakes and ponds to serve as water hazards. The pear trees that line the fairway of the 10th hole are remnants of the original orchard that used to cover the site. Although they had to clear much of the land in order to build the golf course, they re-planted hundreds of trees that have matured beautifully over the years. The sixth is Village Greens Golf Club's signature hole, a par 3 that's known for its spectacular view.
