Sumter National Golf Club was carefully carved from acres of mature forests of towering pines and mature hardwoods. Trees frame most of the holes, shaping a few tricky dogleg, though there are several straightforward holes that only require a long, straight drive. The spacious layout has no parallel fairways, giving golfers plenty of room. In addition to the abundant trees, there are a few water hazards that come into play. Strategically placed bunkers also line the undulating greens, which have subtle contours that are nonetheless difficult to read. Smart course management will be generously rewarded. The golf course has enough to keep more advanced players on their toes but it also has four different sets of tees that accommodate a range of different skill levels. The affordable rates are another attractive aspect of playing at Sumter National.
