Located just a few miles from downtown Charleston, Shadowmoss Plantation Golf Club is easily accessible to and from Kiawah Island and anywhere in the Charleston area. Golf Digest has called it "the best golf value in Charleston," and it was the only golf course in Charleston ever chosen to host the South Carolina State Open. Russell Breeden, who designed more than 20 courses throughout the state, crafted the course at Shadowmoss. Carved from a former plantation, the layout utilizes the natural surroundings, which includes a network of ponds and streams. Water doesn't come into play much on the front nine but be prepared for the back nine where all but the 11th hole have water hazards coming into play. Shadowmoss Plantation's final hole is a tough par 4 that sharply doglegs around a lake that is known for swallowing up errant shots.
