The Country Club of Charleston sits across the Ashley River from downtown Charleston, S.C. in the heart of the Lowcountry. The landscape, though beautiful, isn't exactly known for its rolling hills. Famed course architect Seth Raynor managed to transform the flat terrain into an interesting and challenging golf course. Built in 1925, Raynor didn't have access to large-scale, land-moving equipment and instead used contoured greens to add depth to the layout. Raynor also strategically placed a variety of different bunkers throughout his design. The 11th hole is where the course begins to stand out as one of the best in the Charleston area. This unique par 3 slopes from front left to back right, and features an intimidating false front. The Country Club of Charleston's 16th hole is also known for the feature fronting its green. This long par 4 is aptly named the "Lion's Mouth."
