Getting a piece of land barely adequate for a driving range didn't hamper designer Davis Love III, as his design firm took some marshy land and created a fun play at Eagle's Pointe Golf Club.
"For all its shortcomings, the Loves display a penchant for good golf course design at Eagle's Point," said a TravelGolf.com writer.
"Similar to Jack Nicklaus, Davis Love III enjoys giving players plenty of room off the tee and placing the onus on approach shots."
With some impressive par fours and a generally well-conditioned course, Eagle's Pointe was voted "Best New Course" in 2001 by North Carolina Magazine. Aside from an interesting, playable layout, the green fees tend to hover under the $80 mark, making it a bargain for the wallet, as well.
