Decent course
Nothing spectacular, a couple of cool tee shots off of holes. One Par 3 has a huge drop off, you can make a crater in the green depending on your swing.
Making This an Annual Play
After playing Cool Creek in August 2020, I wanted to come back and try it again. Same course conditions...excellent! The fairways were lush and green, and the greens rolled true and at a nice pace. As I mentioned in a previous review, the bunkers are an interesting mix of sand and small granular rock, but very smooth and playable. The only issue I found was the tee boxes--they were a tad dug up and rough, but not too bad. The staff is very friendly, and the starter was excellent at telling us what we needed to know and getting us out. We were a twosome and a single played with us who was a little bit annoying, but that's not the course's fault. Regulars shouldn't assume players want their input. Cool Creek, though, is very well maintained and is fun to play. Lots of different holes with blind shots and some penal rough. Makes you think you're way around.
Been Over 20 Years...
I haven't played Cool Creek in over 20 years and didn't remember anything...none of the holes came back to me, nor even the parking lot and clubhouse. So, it was like playing a course I've never played before. The course is in great condition. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The bunkers had a funky sand/pebble mixture, but decent to get out of. And, the rough was lush and could be penal if you were too far off the fairway. The tee boxes needed some work--all were crowned and some had dirt spots. But, I will tell you there are two par 3's on the back (#14 & #15) which are two of the prettiest and hardest I've played!
Number 14's tee boxes are way up on an elevated "cliff" hitting down to a two-tiered green with a 4' drop from top to bottom and a lake behind the top tier. It's only 118-130 yards (depending on tee box), but it is visually intimidating. Number 15 plays longer and is a true challenge for the right club selection. Two really great holes! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. And, we were able to get a sandwich afterwards with an option to sit out on the patio under umbrellas or in the air conditioned lounge (which we did, and we were the only ones). The club sandwich was excellent and the young lady behind the counter was nice and attentive. The senior rate was $18.75 w/cart, and the Tee Time Pass was $15! What a deal, especially for a course this nicely manicured. Great job, Cool Creek!
Nice Course At A Great Price
Interesting layout... Relatively open and longer front nine and a tighter and shorter back. EASILY the best prices in the area. If you haven't tried this course, it's definitely time.
Excellent Value and Fun Course to Play
I totally enjoy playing here. The only downside is the numerous spots of missing grass. Not divots. Ball rolls and always finds them. Otherwise, this is a lot of fun to play and otherwise the course is in very good condition. I have to drive an hour to get to the course, but find it worth the ride.
Bang for the Buck
Course was in excellent condition. Greens were fairly quick and the rough was well maintained. Staff was friendly and the pace of play was very good. I have played here a number of times over the years and I consider it one of the Best Bang for the Buck courses in the York County area. Well worth your time to check out and play.
