Bala Golf Club, founded in 1897, has a long and storied history. The original nine-hole golf course was laid out by Willie Tyler. In 1923, noted designer William S. Flynn was brought in to renovate the course, with the challenge of fitting nine additional holes into the existing acreage.
Today, Bala is an 18-hole parkland course. The golf course was built on rolling terrain and has small greens and deep bunkers. Water hazards come into play on four holes. Bala also has its wildlife, including foxes and an unusual breed of black squirrel.
The par-68 Bala Golf Club measures 5,430 yards from the back tees and has a rating of 66.5 and a slope of 133.
