Great Course
Great course for the money. Holes were laid out very nicely. Staff was friendly.
Nice fairways and greens
Fairways and greens were in good shape. Bunkers were in bad shape. But I understand from local player this has been the case for years. The course lay out was nice with longer yardage and fairly challenging greens. Course pace was great!
Pace of Play
Went out Saturday morning as a single, and got paired with another single. There was a twosome in front of us, and a threesome in front of them. We had the standard wait here and there on the front 9 on the fairway, no big deal. Then came the 10th. All three of our groups were on the tee box together, and my twosome waited over 10 minutes to tee off on 10.
Things seemed to pick back up, until the 13th. Between finishing the 12th hole and teeing off on 13 we waited 20 minutes. Again, we were on the tee with both groups ahead of us. Apparently there was a large group (20 or more) from out of state in front of all of us slowing down play. Never once did any of us see a marshal on the course, and over the last 6 holes, we waited on every single tee box due to groups far ahead of us. All told we had a 5 hour round.
This course is a fun, well put together track that I would enjoy going back to again. But if it is going to be a 5 hour round, I won't.
Nice layout
Some cart paths & ball washers need some work. Tee boxes, fairways & greens great. A must play course.
Excellent Conditions!
Excellent conditions. Pace of play was good. Fairways like a carpet.
Always a fun course!
Royal Oaks is a class act. Better conditions than most public golf courses. When you walk into the club house you realize that these folks want to provide you with a top notch golf experience...they succeed. Pace of play was excellent...we played in about three hours with no one slowing us down or pushing us. Most golf courses could take a page out of their play book and follow Royal Oaks' example. The greens and fairways were beautiful! The rough was penal but fair. Overall, a great round of golf!
Great value
Course was in great condition from tees to greens, I think one of the best in the area.
Bunkers are horrible
Bunkers have dirt in them. No sand. Many are being converted to grass. Pretty sad shape. Won’t go back anytime soon.
First new course of the year
Having played a while now, I have to take a road trip to play a new track. On the 4th of July, I was able to make the nearly 2 hour trip to play Royal Oaks. Had no plans and the Hot deal was too good to pass up.
Having read reviews for years, and recently, I felt like I knew what to expect. And I wasn’t surprised about anything. The course is a 4+ star facility. Tee to green, 85-90% all around. Greens were above average with not too many pitch marks. Good work EVERYONE!! Some bunkers were nothing more then dirt and pebbles, while others had sand in them, and yet even more had been converted into grass areas. Seemed about 2 dozen or so are now grass in some strategic areas. I would have loved to seen/played here before the change over.
Relatively flat with a slope averaging in the one teens, it’s fairly wide open for play. Some water comes into play. 3 of each of pars on the front 9 (3s,4s,5s) Back 9 a little more target golf needed. Probably why it took half an hour longer then the front. Still finished in 4.5 . For the holiday, better then expected.
One last story. The 3 some of dudes I played with, all went in at the turn for refreshments of one kind or another. The bill came to $17.76!!! Absolutely the truth. Very enjoyable holiday round.
