Sad Course Has Closed
Course had a terrific layout that played over hilly terrain. Greens were modern with nice undulation.
Course conditions were poor and it was obvious the end was coming when we played in 2015.
Nice course, to bad it's over priced!
I have played here many times last year, even though I am a member of a beautiful country club. The reason I have played it a few times is because my father in law was a member and he enjoyed the course. The new owner or owners have raised the rates to high and have driven almost all members and the general public away and it's a crying shame because it's a beautiful course with beautiful greens and well taken care of! After one month of raising the rates they should have realized that they screwed up and made changes to bring the old business back! I understand they wanted to recoup their money faster but it's hard to do that when there is no one playing at your course because of your bad decisions and chasing business away. I really hope something can be done to save this course because it would be a great course to just close down!!!
Donny
Very nice layout. The course offers you a chance to use all of the clubs in your bag. Only complaint was the fairways and tee boxes were a little burnt out. The greens were in good shape especially for this time of year. I look forward to playing here again next year.
Disappointed
As a former member of this facility I was very disappointed to see the course in it's current condition. Greens are in good condition and were being watered as we played. The fairways are burnt out with large bare areas. Most tee boxes were in poor shape. with bare area's and invasive weeds taking over. They have no replay policy.
course had great sandtraps
The course was a little short. Fairways were dried out and brown. Greens were very good...watered during our play. Stand traps had actual sand in them...best I have played in awhile. Would play again in spring or later in the fall.
Challenging due to narrow
Fairways are very narrow due to houses on one side and wet lands on the other. Fairways aren't as wide as other courses so if not a straight hitter you will go thru a lot of golf balls.
Conditions are good even though it has been very dry for the last 2 months. They are doing a good job watering the greens and other critical areas of the course.
The cost here is a bit much for the course
Dead grass
The greens were in great shape. The facilities were very well maintained, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The biggest downfall to the course is the condition of the fairways. They were extremely horrible. Something needs to change because this course used to be one of the best courses around.
Very Nice Course
Very dry and hot weather has led to a few fareways temporarily browning-out, but all the greens, bunkers and areas around the greens are in great shape. I like the second shot on #9 over water to a large green with bunkers in front, and the calm setting of the par 3 on #15
course not in good shape
greens where good but the fairways are in bad bad shape. It was like playing on dog patch. Also we paid full price, no mention of bad conditions.
Westmoreland (aka Cherry Hill)
I would avoid this course. Short and unimaginative holes. Very burned out fairways and tee boxes.
Glad I tried it out - Good course
Played this course for the first time after seeing it on golfnow for quite a while. Overall, the course was in good shape - some of the fairways were burnt out, but that is common right now in the area. The greens were in excellent shape. It is not incredibly long, even from the tips, but it was a lot of fun to play. The layout of the course is tricky playing it the first time. Even with a garmin, it was a little tough to figure out the smartest way to play the holes. However, I would love to go back and play it again now that I have a little course knowledge under my belt. Got a great price from golfnow - would definitely play it again.
Better have someone who knows the course
Let's start off with the positives. The staff that got us started was excellent! The course was in very good shape despite the horrible weather to start the summer. Several holes do have great views as if you were looking in a golf magazine. Directions to the next hole were marked clearly for most or all of the holes. Cart paths were in pretty good shape as well.
My only complaints would be the number of blind shots you have and the regular price to golf there. Even during the week it is expensive to play 18 with a cart (and you need a cart to play 18 unless you are in crazy physical training).
Ownership has changed the course
I was a member last year. The course was a great value and the people were so friendly. The ranger was really attentive to what the golfers needed. The Pub was fantastic. Food was GREAT! Now they have a sports bar. After the new owner took over it went down hill fast. Prices are some of the highest in the county. My friend and I joined a different golf club because of the new owner. Last year they had over 200 members. This year they have about 40. I loved the course but it isn't as good as it was. Within 2 years the owner will be building homes and there will be no course there.
Beautiful
The course was in great shape. The sand traps need some work.
New owners have really revamped this course into one the premier courses in the area
New owners have really revamped this course into one the premier courses in the area. Was a joy to play
Course in poor condition
Grass was extremely high and we lost about a dozen balls. We were members last year, glad we did not join this year. Grass shavings throughout course...snowball dandelions all over...never saw this course in this bad shape..excuse was they had a mower broke...really?? You own a golf course that's no excuse...new rules..trying to be a country club and they are far from it.
Great Track!
Last time I played here was over a year ago, and the Greens were well kept and a little tricky. But in a good way. They were punching the fairways while we were playing, but that is to be expected come fall time. Overall course was good, some bunkers needed new sand, to many ROCKS, but overall good!
They also have AWESOME FOOD! Have not had one bad thing there! Friendly staff as well.
Odd course with bad yardage, SHORT, not country club conditions.
Odd course with bad yardage starts on the first tee. Blue yardage says 363 dog leg right. Hit 4 iron which is my 200 yard club at what appears to be a 150 yard marker. Hit the fairway and was left with 75 yards in. Number 2 is more of the same, hit 4 iron on 360 yard hole to be left with 75 yards straight uphill to a green you cannot see. After waiting for 2 groups to play the next hole which is a par 3 that is a decent hole but short 145 from blue tees and you make a u turn to tee right beside your last tee box. Group in front of us then jumped out of turn to play ahead of the group holding everyone up (no ranger). We stayed in our spot because the next hole was the #1 handicap hole 438 yard par 4. Hit 3 wood and was left with 120. By this time we had already been on the course for 1 hour and 20 minutes. We skipped the next hole to get around the holdup and played 6 which is a non event, played the 7 a decent par 5 which turned out to be the best hole on the front side, requires good drive, accurate 2nd because it dog legs left and lob wedge third to a decent green. 8th hole looks like a throw in; 100 yards downhill. 9th hole is a odd driving hole trying to figure out where the landing area is. While we were playing they had two guys running machinery by the green to fish balls out of the adjacent pond with no regard to players on 9 or 18. At this point my playing partner was ready to quit, but we stopped at bar and staff was SLOW.
Number 10 is a very short, straight up the hill par 4 that you think you might be on he wrong hole because of the drive to get to it. Landed in the green side bunker that is FILLED with sand. You then play back to back par 3's with the first a very nice downhill hole playing 199 (card). With elevation plays 165- 175. Next par 3 card says 175 uphill, hit 175 club long into clover 3 inches high in the middle of the course. Next hole 331 par 4 that is exaggerated by approx 40 yards (plays 275-290 tops). Next is an Uphill par 4 non- descript hole with partially hidden green! But does play its yardage, next par 3 does not play 160, maybe 140. Last two holes might bring some people back to this course because they are both very nice challenging with the only exception to that point being standing on the 18th tee and figuring out where to place your tee shot, more landing area to the left than appears.
If you are a young player looking to grip and rip, don't play here, you might hurt somebody. If you are a short straight hitter that keeps the ball in play and can get the course at a relatively cheap rate it might be worth the stop. Far better greens at cedarbrook. Far better layout at butlers for the same price.
sorry for the length of this review but too many great reviews for this course can be misleading, which we were.
Excellent and fun COURSE
The COURSE Was in great shape, very beautiful location, green in grate shape. You could use all your clubs.
I live abroad so it it unlikely that I will ever return, but if I could I would definitely come back.
Great staff. Missed a GPS screen in the carts, cold water and beverages carts to sell around the course. Roughs were high.
Great choice with room for improvement.
Nice Setup
I really liked the look and setup of this course. It reminds me of courses in the south with a few marshes on some holes. And a tiny bit of southern California with the elevation changes and houses around the course. Houses really don't come into play, which is good. It's well maintained. It is a little bit short from the white tees. But definitely will play again.
