great experience
this is my home course, staff is extremely helpful and friendly. course is well maintained and a great value for the price. best course for this price in the philadelphia area by far.
They let the course go
I don’t know if I would play this course again if they let you play for free. They really let the course go it’s a shame. Great layout terrible conditions. Poor tee boxes greens and awful bunkers, just mud covered with dirt. For the price it would never be worth playing here again. Only positive is it’s not crowded which makes sense for the conditions
Rough around the edges, great bones
This is certainly the best course within city limits. It has great bones from a challenging design but a few of the tee boxes are basically sand boxes (specifically #3), some of the fairways seem to be eternally under construction, and the cart paths feel like a dirt bike track in a few places. Greens are challenging but well kept. If you play all the courses around Philly, this one is worth the trip for the price alone. You can get an sense of what it was like in its hey day and besides- this was Allister McKenzie's appetizer before he made Augusta, ever heard of it?
bb review
The tee boxes are pretty beat up on many holes. Greens were good for most part. I thought they did a pretty good job of blowing off the fall leaves on most holes.
Interesting and challenging layout. Good value for the money!
Not bad
For what I paid you can't beat it. Short course even from the blues, but you have to shape some shots. Over all not bad but a little slow at times (pace of play).
Tough in the rough
Not my best round of golf for sure. I feel the rough areas could have been cut lower, however I should have stayed in the short grass.
Keep up the upkeep
I like the course but it was overgrown and it seems like there was no maintenance. Hopefully end of season doesn’t mean end of caring.
Staff was really nice and friendly though.
Terrible condition
To Melrose…..
Please at least try to care about your course. First… 5 1/2 hrs is not a good pace.
Your sand traps are loaded with water and haven’t been raked in months.
Greens were long and super slow
Trees and limbs need to be cut everywhere
Tee boxes…. Dirt boxes
Put some effort and this house could be a gem.
Great value
Melrose is a great value for the price in todays golf world. A challenging, narrow layout that requires precision off the tee more than bombs. Pace of play excellent. If they get the clubhouse back would be much better.
