Beautiful Course!
I played this course just the other day and absolutely loved it. Very beautiful this time of year with all the trees changing color. Even though it was wet the greens were really fast in some spots. Such a great experience. Will be coming back.
Quite Surprised
I have played most of the public courses in this area and Piney Apple has to be one of the best groomed and maintained for the price!
Lots of challenges for the beginner and intermediate golfer (including what seemed to be 20-25 small ponds throughout the course). The back nine does have it's confusion...but, all you have to do is look at the course map and follow the signs on the cart path.
Lots of 'risk-vs-reward' to this course; we asked ourselves all day long if we should play it safe or go for it, lol...most of the time to our chagrin!
Really nice to have carts with ball, club and shoe cleaners on them too!
Everyone we ran into was friendly and we enjoyed our day a lot. Stop thinking about "if" you want to play here and just go play it...you'll enjoy yourself- it's golf!
Good Value
The course layout at first can be confusing but there are some interesting holes. Views from 1st tee over miles of orchards is fantastic. Staff is very friendly.
Golf Gem in Apple-Growing Country
If you can get beyond the quirky design on the back nine, this is a nifty little gem set in some of Adams County's prettiest terrain.
The "clubhouse" is a mobile home beside a gravel parking lot, but it's sparkling clean inside, and the young lady behind the counter is friendly and helpful.
Carts are electric without any new-fangled frills, but they have ball and club washers on them. All the usual amenities are available: driving range, putting green, etc.
The course is hilly with elevation changes, doglegs, and ponds to make it interesting. On this cloudy, cool morning following a night of rain, balls didn't run like they do when the layout is hard and dry. The green surfaces are flawless, and they hold approach shots well. There are plenty of interesting slopes to make putting a challenge. Bunkers were soaked with standing water in some of them. There are good-size pebbles in the ones I found myself in; not something I expect to encounter in bunkers
Views of the surrounding orchards are outstanding, even on a day with showers rolling through the area. I finally got rained on playing 17 and 18.
Interesting
A friend and I played Piney Apple on an unseasonably warm February weekend. View from first tee was awesome! Terrain runs up, down and over various small hills. Layout was decent, but got a bit quirky on the back 9. Seemed as if there was a spot where they tried to cram in a few holes. Not a bad course for country golf and I do not use the term "country golf" as a slight in the least. I would play if you are passing through, but would not travel to play here.
Great first tee view
Friendly staff with a well kept course in the middle of apple orchards, can't beat it. The view from the first tee is beautiful. The course is fun for all skill levels.
