Course Closed by University

Course closed to save money. This was quite unfortunate as the front 9 was built in the 20s and had some quirky old-school greens that were a joy to play. The back 9 was the newer 9 and longer in length.

Closing December 2016

Course is quirky with a short front nine and more regulation back nine. Due to budget restraints KSU is planning to close the course at the end of the year (2016)

Conditions lacking

Course is a little quirky to begin with par 33 on front with a par 37 on the back. Leaves were everywhere, tees, greens, fairways. Saw a couple of kids with backpack blowers blowing tees later in the round, but that does you little good when you split the fairway and can't find the ball because it is covered in leaves. The cart we had felt like it had no suspension, the group in front of us had one of their carts die on the 2nd hole. Pace of play was terribly slow. The problem foursome was told to pick up the pace on the back nine, but they played even slower.

Great Fall Day for November Golf

Can't say enough good things about the course.
Course was in excellent condition for this late in the season and the staff had done a great job of keeping the leaves away from the areas of play so lost balls did not become an issue.

Kent State University golf course

The staff were extremely nice the course was nice, my one complaint and it's big the golfers were very loud and not the students or younger players, it was the older players speaking at the top of their lungs there was no golf etiquette on that course maybe was a bad day but it was ridiculous again the staff was extremely nice and helpful. Maybe it was just slow play bigmouth Sunday players but it was a bad day trying to hit a shot or putt. By the way front nine is short 2250 yards in the back nine is 5500 yards roughly so to different types of tests.

Greens were too hard

This course is normally very enjoyable to play. But yesterday, the greens were as hard as a rock. It is not enjoyable to hit a perfect wedge and watch it take a big hop and go over the back of the green.

Greens were in exceptional condition. Staff was friendly

The greens were the best I have played all season. The fairways need some TLC but with some rain they should get much better. Staff was friendly.

Course was in condition with fast and true greens.

i was surprised the course was in the good condition considering time of year and rain. I seen grounds workers out raking bunkers, mowing and blow dry the greens and fairways.Good course from easy to hard.

Course Going Downhill

I've played the KSU course often in the past and enjoyed it. I was appalled at the condition of the course. Under disrepair. Lots of bare spots. Even the carts were disgusting. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Gives you the feeling the course isn't long for this world - don't invest in something you don't plan to keep. The only bright spot was the person running the place - very friendly.

Horrible

The course was hard, grass was burnt. Seems like there is no sprinkler system. Won't play there again, even for the $10 hot deal!

KSU Small Fast Greens

had a good time on this shorter course. The greens are very small and were pool table fast with a lot of them being elevated which made touch shots very difficult. Pace of play was good but the holes have been changed around so beware. Overall good time with drives leading to wedge or very short pitch shots with the greens described previously.

Kent State University disappointment

Booked this without doing my own research. I thought it was the KSU course, but found out the school team plays at Windmill Lakes. Good thing for them. The course is rock hard. Play every hole at least 2 club shorter and except run-ups on the green. I was VERY confused from the 1st hole too because of a foot golf course on the golf course. The only saving grace was that it was dirt cheap. Rarely would I pass up playing a back 9, but it was a no brainer here.

Major Disappointment

Decided to play there while visiting Akron for the day. We considered paying for 18 but opted to decide at the turn. GOOD CALL. For first timers: IGNORE the orange footgolf flags all over the course. Play for 20 - 30 yards in front of every green as the course appears to not have seen water in years. Entire course is rock hard. Most greens seem to be a "practice how to cut a new hole" location.

Same old Kent

Noticed Kent had new ownership. Called to get a price a couple weeks ago and was about $30. Thought if it was anything like the old Kent State GC, they were out of their minds. When I saw the $10 hot deal, I had to see what the new ownership had to offer. The course conditions were much nicer, but during our round, we saw a group of SEVEN!!! SEVEN!!!!! Playing.... We also saw three groups of five... This was on a Sunday... Absolutely ridiculous. They took out the water coolers every 3 holes for some reason too. I don't know how anyone could ever bring themselves to pay $30 to play this course when there are SO many courses in this area that are MUCH better and cheaper. I bid adieu to Kent State GC, for I hope that was my last round there.

Good value.. Course is confusing

The holes are fun to play and adequately difficult. The back nine is an issue. I suppose it is under construction but there is not very much info to guide you through. I would go back!

Two distinct nines

Front nine is short, all par 4's and 3's for a total par of 33. The back nine plays to par 37 with 3 par 5's. Greens on both nines are very small. Conditions were slightly above average.

Good value for $22

Played Saturday morning and the weather was near perfect. The course is in pretty darn good shape for the middle of April. We were surprised there weren't more people out that day. Around 3.5 hours for 18. It's a short course but I'm not a pro. Was nice to play here for my 1st time out this year.

Not bad for the price

This is the 2nd time I have played this course... it's definitely not a bad course for what you pay. The only problem I experienced was the greens had just been aerated and for some reason they were VERY sandy. Playing the green was a lot like playing in a bunker.

Other than that, KSU isn't a bad course... I'd play it again.
