Classic Historic Track
This course stands the test of time as the layout is tremendous and the course is demanding
They need a ranger
I play this course often and love it. It is challenging and fun to play when it is in good condition, which is kind of a crapshoot. I would not recommend playing this course after a rainy spell. There are many areas of the course that retain water, even in the middle of the fairways and in front of the greens. Biggest issue I have with it is this year they've for some reason have put many 9 hoie rounds on GolfNow or at the course. The issue i have with this is the Blue doesn't come back to the clubhouse and you've got people paying for 9 and presumably after their 9 jumping in to play more holes in front of people like myself playing 18. This happened to me yesterday when a single jumped in front of me and my playing partner and between the twosome in front of us. This guy was playing multiple balls and just playing slow. There are no rangers out there that I can see to police this nonsense. If they don't have rangers and stop this kind of crap they shouldn't be booking 9 hole rounds on the Blue Course.
The Blue is getting better every week
The course is in very good shape. It seems the Troon team is focusing on course improvement and customer service and it's paying off handsomely. Hope things continue in this direction.
Terribly kept course
Course had garbage on every hole pouring out of trash cans and beer cans thrown on the sides of cart paths. It was 8am so it wasn’t from earlier that day.
Cart paths were chunky, broken asphalt with potholes galore. Bridges were terrible to drive on. Almost seemed like it would collapse.
Course has a bunch of huge divots and holes in the ground filled with water in middle of fairways and tee boxes.
No clubhouse, just a small apparel shop. So no food or drinks.
For $10 extra, could’ve played at Boulder Creek
Think twice
Brought some friends from out of town, I was embarrassed ..
Non-playable after rain
The blue course at Highland should be closed after rain events, not just walking only due to lack of cart path. Large pools of water on the fairway, wet greens, etc. Have played Blue before and enjoyed it.
We ended up switching to 9 on the Red Course when they called prior to check-in to offer walking only on Blue or 9 on Red with a cart on cart path only. Red still had pooled water in areas and on some greens.
Blue
Good old blue. In good shape generally. There are some bad spots in fairways but otherwise in good shape. Greens in better than average shape.
The new management team already starting to change some things. For now if you want to get out on short notice close to Cleveland this is a good bet. Highland is getting better and expect to be busier in future.
Highland Blue Course
Owned by the city of Cleveland, Highland Park is 36 holes. Red and Blue courses. We played the Blue course. Over 6500 yards par 71 from White tees. Several par fours over 430 yards. Greens were in good shape. Fairways were good. Traps need a lot of work. Tee boxes were rough as the course gets a lot of play. Good value at 39 bucks with a cart. I think it is cheaper if you go through their website rather than GN.. cashier was friendly. No real amenities other than beer, pop, water and candy bars. It's worth a look.
Highland Park Blue Review
We had to play Red. Since Blue was under water and features no cart paths.
Not a real problem as both are a good value for the money!
