Best Public Greens in a 100 mile radius
I play tons of golf. One thing that drives me nuts is terrible greens. Briardale layout is what it is but what that super has done to those greens over the past 3 years is nothing short of AMAZING. I can compare these greens with Sandridge and Kirtland only. No public course comes close...Only one comes close about 2 hours away called Black Gold a little South of here.
This course is always open.
If you're looking for a great golf course that's open year-round, Briardale is definitely a good option. While there can be slight backups at times, the staff is friendly and helpful. The course itself is nice and flat, making it easy to navigate, and even when it's wet, it's still very playable. One of the standout features is the driving range, which is a great way to warm up before your round. Overall, I'd definitely recommend giving Briardale a visit.
Briardale
Good course for the money if you wait for online rates the day of. Expect to see plenty of ponding of water around if it rained a decent bit the night before, this course doesn’t drain well. But if you’re looking for a cheaper round with greens that are in good shape and a somewhat interesting track at times, this course isn’t a bad option.
Winter??
The greens where simply amazing for March 3
Course was drained of water and played unreal
Greens were perfect
For how much it has rained, snowed, etc these greens were almost unbelievable. Very fast, smooth and in great condition. I am a pretty tough critic but was very impressed. Cannot wait to see how they are peak season.
Greens
I can’t get over how good the greens were for March 3rd they are amazing. If this course gets a little more grass around the greens it’s going to be one of the best in the area. You can tell they are putting $$ into it. I’ve played little mountain, stonewater & Big met this year and these were the best greens out of them all by far.
Well done.
Still a solid course
For a muni, I was impressed with the quality of the greens. Rest of the course was in good shape.
Great Greens Right Now
Played here a lot over the years. Don't remember the greens ever being this fast and true. Nice!!
Grounds
The course is in very good condition compared to other courses in the area !
Lack of Starter / Ranger Ruined Round
We had the 8:30 tee time. We rolled up to the tee early around 8:15 and saw a 6-some standing on the green putting. The group saw us come to the tee and broke off into two 3-somes. The first 3-some wasn’t off the #2 green by the time we finished 1. The 3-some behind them said “we’ll let you play through” and then continued to play the hole. We waited for the second group to finish #2 and played we were finishing our putts as the second group got off the tee of #3. From there we waited for 15 minutes for the group to reach the turn to allow us to hit. At that time a single player had finished #2 and 2-some behind him were already on the green. At that point there were 7 groups between the 2 holes. The first group of 3-some let us go finally on hole 6 and we caught their second group in two balls. At that point it had already been about 2 1/2 hours though. After catching the second group we waited for them to putt while they parked their carts on the green. They did however let us through at 9 and the rest of the round was pleasurable.
However, I will say the course is incredibly well kept, fun layout, and has some challenging shots due to well placed bunkers, and challenging greens.
The holes were too close together. Almost got hit by wayward shots 3 times. Hardly any ballwashers on the course. An ok course, but a little steep in price. And if you're a smoker you're outta luck.
