Golf was great

Pro shop staff were curt and not very friendly

Nice round

You need to play this course when you can find a big discount. They charge around $50 for a round which is overpriced. But, the course is a bit challenging and if you can catch it at the right time, the pace of play is really good.

Sweetbriar Legacy is Fun & Great Condition

Course is in great condition: tees, fairways & greens (rolling with nice speed & pretty true). My cart did not have dirt bucket to refill divots, which average golfers do poor job of repairing fairway turf or even ball marks on greens. If everyone looked around to fix a pitch-mark (& repair properly), greens would stay in better condition thru-out season. No complaints about Legacy, except how hole #6 has been changed/shortened & is now a "cheap" par4 (from what was originally the most difficult hole on front9). We had entertainment with wine festival #5-tee ........but just a super day on the course.

Fun layout & great course conditions

Busy course(s) on a Saturday afternoon --starter had his hands full. Course in really nice shape, in fact greens were very soft. Its a shame golfers don't replace divot/turf in fairways & fix as many ball-marks on greens as they can. Its a shame that #6hole had to be changed/shortened to appease the home-owners on the right-side, because the hole changed from a challenge to "cheap." Except for my poor golf, it was a fun afternoon @ Legacy.

Green in Bad Shape and Really Squishy Fairways

Green in Bad Shape and Really Squishy Fairways. It was Cart path only and I wish I would have known that when booking. They should have conditions on GolfNow. That way I would have known it was cart path only and I would have gone somewhere else due to time.

wet But fast

So just so happened to book a time when we had a lot of rain that morning, I went out Solo and got around in 2.5 hours,, It was like I was the only guy out there,, greens had a lot of standing water but I still posted a score of 82,, Good for me since I've only broke 80 5 times,, if the greens weren't as wet as the were I'm sure I would have broke 80 again,, Fun local course, I love when I see it in the Hot deals because its a great little course..

First time playing Legacy

Drove up from Virginia beach to visit a friend. Played Sweetbriar Legacy. Course was in great condition. Pace was a little slow but about average. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend to a friend!!! Thanks Sweetbriar Legacy for a good time.

Early August Review

Sweetbriar Legacy is probably the best course on the west side of Cleveland in terms of design and playability. It is a higher end public golf course, it gets a ton of play from leagues, outings, and general public.

The layout is one of my favorite in the area, its challenging without being overly penal. Holes 7 and 11 are two of my favorite holes of any course in the area. The course is wide and allows all types of shots to be played.

The issues I have with Legacy are the leagues and outings. The leagues are overbooked, play slow, and players don't help maintain the course by fixing ball marks and divots. Despite those issues, Sweetbriar still sell tee times in between leagues and outings. For this I don't recommend Legacy compared to other courses in the area.

Overbooking makes everyone sad!

When this course is in goid shape it is one of my favorite tracks on the West Side of Cleveland. That being sad the greens are more and more disappointing. It's as if noone has ever repaired a ball mark..... EVER!!!!

On top of that they overbooked the course on a league night. I played the front nine in a very reasonable 70 minutes as a single. Only to make turn into league play. After 90 minutes and 3 holes I had to leave. I felt cheated out of my remaining holes of golf.

Course is maturing nicely

Been a couple of years since I played the Legacy at Sweetbriar. It is maturing very nicely. Rough is thick and challenging affording defense considering many of the front 9 holes are short. Added length on the back is slightly incongruous, but all in all a pretty cool place to play. Has that private club feel.

Great Course for $30

Have always liked this course - always well kept, moderately challenging. A little short at times - but I enjoy because I have the chance to hit a lot of the clubs in my bag. Nice range, which is usually always open, and good overall facilities. Not a bad course to play when wet since it drains decently and cart path only isn't a bear.

I like to play it during the week only for a few reasons:

1) Weekend tee times at $60 do not present a great value. The course itself, IMO, is not worth that. Nice, and worth playing, but I won't pay that much.

2) Pace of play - less people during the week can make for a 2-3 hour round. Weekends can take 4-5 hours with people packed in.

Overall - I would recommend, but not on the weekends, especially if it is packed. Also a great course if you get up early to be first off the tee. Its under a 2 hour round before work.

Great customer service on both ends

Booked a hot deal the day before where rain was supposed to end around noon (12:32 tee time). Arrived to the course with a heavy rainfall, the gentleman in the proshop said they had atleast an inch of rain fall and no one was on the course. Called golf now and they "made an exception" after contacting the course even though hot deals are non refundable. Haven't played legacy this year, but look forward to playing with better weather.

Sweetbrier Avon lake

Enjoyed the round, course in good condition considering recent dry spell we have had. Greens held vey well and were in very good condition. We started our round around 3:30 on the back nine and worked our way to the front. We had absolutely no waiting, unbelievable. Cost for the $18 was just over a dollar a hole.

Don't waste your time or money!

Although the clubhouse, restaurant and pro shop are nice, the course is terrible. The layout is boring and forgettable and the conditions are even worse. The fairways are mostly burned out and the greens are beat up. Played with a discounted rate and was still a rip off. Wish I would have went somewhere else. Will not be back.

To clarify this review was for the Sweetbriar 18, not the Legacy course.

Always a great place to be.

The course was in great shape, while others in the area have been in very rough shape because of the recent drought. Challenging pin positions made our outing frustratingly fun.

Tough Day at Legacy

The course was saturated. Cart path only which was not disclosed at booking.
The group I was supposed to play with showed up with extra players. The starter sent me out by myself without trying to pair me up elsewhere. It was a miserable experience and I quit after 9 holes of endless waiting
