Playing to 7,400 yards, the par-70 South course at Firestone Country Club in South Akron demands distance off the tee, and the course's thick rough make accuracy essential as well. The golf course originally opened in 1929 and was designed by Bert Way, though Robert Trent Jones Sr. redesigned it in 1960. A private-access course, Firestone Country Club has two other courses: the North, and the most recent addition, the Tom Fazio-designed West course.
