Echo Farms Golf & Country Club offers 18 holes of championship golf first laid out by Gene Hamm back in 1974. A 1998 redesign by the United Kingdom's Ian Scott Taylor provided the current Scottish-links-like course. All levels will find fun tests on this course. A quartet of tee sets allows them to golf as short as 5,000 yards or as as 7,000 on recently touched-up Tiff-Eagle Bermuda grass greens. The course, next to the Cape Fear River, is laid out on the natural features.
Tee off at Echo Farms Golf & Country Club on a par-4 that measures 430 yards. The first long hole is the fourth, at 498 yards, one of four par-5s, including the monster 592-yard 16th. A round of golf concludes on the relatively short 404-yard 18th.
After a round at Echo Farms Golf & Country Club, head to the clubhouse, where once upon a time was heifers were milked and the liquid bottles - nowadays, it offers bottles of harder stuff.
