Great Course for the Price
Great course for the price. Obviously not Cape Fear National but its also not 70$+ a round.
Play this course about once every two weeks, nice open holes as well as a few challenging ones.
Only complaint is that some of the tee boxes are in rough shape but other than that the course is beautiful. The lady in the snack bar is awesome
Only thing they need to do is fix a few of the tee boxes 13th par 3 needs it bad and they would be in awesome shape.
Fun, Challenging Course
Played with family today. Course was in good shape: greens were smooth and fast, fairways were nice as well although very narrow at spots, rough was very challenging. Tough to find your ball unless you were right over it and very thick/lush. Got a little backed up on back 9, but it was afternoon so no starter so it was expected on a Friday afternoon. Overall good experience
Terrible!
I live here in Wilmington and had my dad come stay at the hotel I work at. We played this course because I had a coupon for but one green fee, get one free. Cost us $51 to play whih isn't too bad. But the cost far outweighed what we got. The course is in awful, let me repeat that, awful shape. Nothing to hit off of in any place. Mud/dirt everywhere. Greens where decent in places but can't compare to anything around here. I would recommend the municipal course to the guest at my hotel head and shoulders above this course. The pace of play was terrible. Had a threesome in front of us that we waited in the entire round. We would wait for them the tee off of every hole and the old guys would just waive at us and never let us through even though we asked serval times. Never saw a marshal that would even force them to waive us through. Truly pathetic.
Sand for a range and muck for a tee box
I expected a bit more from this course but after sinking into the tee box I almost wanted to ask for my money. I continued my round only to find hitting down on the ball was almost impossible due to the wet ground. Overall, I will not be going back to this course. The only up side was the greens were fast and fun to play on and in ok condition with no bald spots.
Avg course
The course was avg. and not difficult. Nice place to get started on the season.
worst game ever
Course was in terrible shape, the driving range was closed, chipping green was like a sponge. Wont be bavk till summer time. ...then I question that.
great coarse
great course to play, had a great time.course has 18 holes good for advance players or just starting.great greens to put.little fast
Book With Caution
I booked a tee time at Echo Farms via GolfNow for 11:08. When I arrived at 10:45, the pro shop attendant stated the group I was supposed to be added to showed up with 4 instead of the booked 3 but they would send me off with another group. As I was walking out, the attendant was radioing the starter to help get me out. Unfortunately, this is where things broke down.
The started appeared to be in his late 70's or early 80's and was immediately confused because my last name was similiar to the group I was supposed to be paired up with. After 10 minutes of explaining this, I was told I would be paired up as soon as possible. As I sat that watching for 30 minutes, the starter sent out groups of 2, 3 and then 2 without even acknowledging me. A gentleman came up to me and said the starter was joking with the group of 3 that he had to find a place to put me but wouldn't do that to the members since he had no idea if I was any good.
Enough was enough. Thankfully, the pro shop was willing to refund my fees, minus GolfNow fees, with minimal difficulty.
course is not an interesting piece of property
staff very helpful, condition of course spotty, pace of play
good.
Nice open layout on most holes.
First time playing Echo Farms and I had an enjoyable experience.
For most holes the course is forgiving off the tee boxes and the greens were in good shape. Nice quiet atmosphere to enjoy a round of golf.
We had a 10:44 tee time. When we arrived at the course, we were told to start on 10. None of the tee markers had been setup. Play was slow.
Pace of play was very slow. My group and the group behind us went into the pro shop at the turn and complained about the group ahead of us was playing too slow and had several groups backed up behind them. The pro shop people did not really seem to care. It would have been a fun 18 since the weather was nice and the course was in good shape, but the slow play and the attitude of the pro shop workers spoiled the outing.
Great value.
After a few days of rain was a bit wet out there so drainage maybe an issue. Greens were in fine shape but the cart path needs to be redone as some areas are almost unpassable.
Good value, nice greens.
Good overall value. Greens are in nice shape, fairways are in good shape for the winter. Decent practice area, good food and drink specials as well.
on the day before playing, I stopped by the club house to confirm booking time, the guy at the desk wasn't friendly and DID NOT have our tee time
course was fun to play as we were paired with a nice fellow from Southern California. The course was wet in some places so I will be trying out other venues before deciding on a club to join
Course is in good shape for time of year.
Echo Farms is a good course to play. It is fun and challenging. The bunkers and greens are in good shape as always. There is plenty of water especially on long holes to make your approach shot interesting. You have several holes that you have to make a club selection other than a driver.
A must play in the Wilmington area.
I can't imagine anyone not enjoying Echo. It's a well kept course with a layout that tests not only your ball striking ability but your decision process as well.
Tee positions make a huge difference on some holes
The course was in decent shape, although soggy and spongy lies made some iron play and pitch/chips more difficult than usual. There were golf teams on the course so the pace of play was slower than usual. The greens were smooth and fast. From the Blue Tees the course is much longer than from the Whites. This is especially true on par fours and fives. There are also Gold Tees at the tips and senior and red tees that shorten the course mightily. I like that there are no blind shots and the holes mostly lay out in front of you. There are several water holes that will punish mishits. The course favors strong ball striking of the tee and good iron play. It's a tough course and a good test for all levels of golf.
Fun course for a birthday round.
Course was in great shape. Played course in < 4hrs.
