The greens were in perfect shape. The course was busy but play was very good, finished in regulation time. Some holes the fairways are narrow and elevation wasn’t too hard. Would play again.
Staff doesn’t care for Golf Now. golfers
Course layout was kitschy and good use of the property available. Greens were in decent shape, but too many don’t care to fix ball marks. Played as a single and staff didn’t seem too happy about it. “we don’t allow singles on the weekend but Golf Now does”. Seemed as though the members in front of me were purposely slowing down throughout the round as the chatter after putting increased on the green and they fell 2 holes behind. One of the group apologized after and said he tried to let me play through but the others didn’t want to. Ranger would have been nice, but as others commented - good old boy CC wasn’t going to press them to speed up. Fairways were more weed than grass and bunkers were laughable.
I have played in cow pastures better than this course. It’s a good old boys course very poorly maintained
Average local course in need of work
We had higher expectations based on reviews. However, the course needs work. The fairways were beat up, bunkers had no sand, tee boxes, bridges and cart paths all need repair. The pro shop was empty of merchandise and the standard pros you expect at courses were not the people working in there. It was a strange club/course in general and not what we expected from a semi-private course. Not sure if they are in the middle of some transition or what. The best thing was that it was pretty empty so we didn’t have to wait while playing. The restaurant was a bust and the final blow. Would not recommend.
Grassy Creek
Great course nestled in the mountains. Challenging layout with big mature trees to line the fairways. Grounds are kept well and I hope this continues for many years!!
Good Course But Could Use Updates
Overall the course was in good condition, as well as the greens. The staff was very friendly and the guy working gave me a little booklet with course description, green sizes and tips which I’ve never received at any other courses. The bunkers are in terrible shape and bridges are sketchy. I felt the price was too high for this course. They need to put up some sort of netting or something with the major highway and businesses right by the 1st tee.
Fun course to play
Course in decent shape except for traps. Didn’t get in them and glad I didn’t. Probably due to lack of workers like most courses.
Play was very very slow due to 2 or 3 groups who were very high handicap/beginners. Did not finish the entire 18 due to the backup. Probably has a Marshall on weekends.
Greens were hard to read like a lot of mountain courses. Except for the pace of play, it was enjoyable on a pretty day.
Grassy Creek
Good course, but could be better. Greens are a little slow and the bunkers are not in good condition. Nice views on the course. With a little work this could be a very nice place.
This course is a fun mountain course
The mountains have had a tremendous amount of rain this summer, so the course was extremely wet! We still had a great time, and will definitely play it again!
Course had 2+ inches of rain day before play. A great course
Course layout is excellent. Conditions were poor due to extremely wet weather the day before. (Cart path only) most fairways were swampy. The course is under excellent care. Greens were good even under extremely wet conditions.
We definitely will return.
Beautiful and well maintained. Great experience.
The course was in great shape. I was beautiful and challenging yet not too tight. I would say it was a great average golfers course to play, but with the beauty of a top rate course. A must play if you are in the area.
The course was very wet, but we played after several days of rain, so I thought it was fine.
I was not completely satisfied. There were course maintenance guys all over the course that were disrupting play on numerous holes.
A fun yet challenging course
I love this course. When the greens are cut low, it really has some teeth. The course is fairly short but almost all the greens are slightly elevated. It reminds me of the old Donald Ross designs. Miss the green and you better have a good short game. Open enough to really let your hair down with the driver. An excellent value. The staff is very friendly. They actually appreciate you being there.
Very nice for the price!!!
I was visiting family in Spruce Pine, NC. Went on golf now.com and found this course. The online price was $17ea. including a cart. This is unbelievably cheap. The only thing I don't understand is that they don't offer ANY rental clubs. We ended up sharing a bag of clubs on each cart. This slowed us down a bit but not terribly.
Challenging golf course.
I loved this course. It was in great shape, ever though it had some wet areas due to the rain storm. Greens in good shape and challenging due to the fast speed, although the greens were a little hard and almost impossible to hold if you hit the green with your fairway shot. Enjoyed playing this course and would highly recommend!!!
