Much Improved!!!
This was the first time I had played since the course re-opened, and I love the new layout. The conditions were also very good, and they were working on the course and new clubhouse when I played. I will definitely play here again!
If I had one complaint, I had the slowest threesome in the history of golf in front of me, and of course no ranger. I was playing as a single, and when I asked to play with them/play through they said no. They said it would not get any better that there were groups in front of them which I did not see after about the 3rd hole. I would be shocked if any of them broke 120. I called the clubhouse to ask if they had a ranger and was told not at that moment. They finally let me play through on 12, after I got sick of waiting in between so long and fired a warning shot. Hated it had to come to that.
Great Renovation
I played this course for the first time since the seven million dollar renovation and it did not disappoint. All tee boxes were level and green and the greens were big and fast.I thought I was playing at a country club. The course had great character and I played as a twosome in three and a half hours. The greens rolled perfect at about 11 and I was so impressed with the course and staff that I inquired about a membership.I will play this course again and bring my friends.
Looking forward to Next Time
Without going into all the history of this municipally owned course just reopening after a $10 million upgrade, I look forward to playing it again when it greens up. There is still a lot of clean-up work being done in the areas surrounding the holes. Trees and bushes being removed to be replaced with flowers and shrubs to aesthetically improve the appearance. The clubhouse, which will be on par with many country clubs, is probably about 40% completed, so there was not much to offer in the way of amenities. (therefore the low rating) Parking was at a premium due to the construction of the clubhouse. Driving range is very nice with small greens and pin flags at various distances, for example 150 yards.
All the staff were very nice and hospitable.
The tee boxes and greens were very nice. I was disappointed that players somewhere in front of us were not raking traps. I am a high handicap player but I felt the front 9 was pretty benign. It was short, wide open and the traps were there to catch really errant shots to the green. Hole 9, which I was told was the old hole 18, was a very nice hole, with a lay up to a lake with a gristmill type structure.
The back 9 had more character even with the power line and railroad tracks lining the first several holes. This 9 is also placed in a housing development. There were many, many more trees to contend with on both sides of many of the fairways.
Looking forward to playing there again in the spring.
Enjoyment Golf
I enjoy playing the course. While the front nine is wide open, I know I have to be cautious because the back is narrow.
I do feel the cart fees are too high, which is hard to understand because the green fees are reasonable. Walkers, especially the elder, which I am one, are very slow. I know this is a public course so walking must be an open, but does it need to be encouraged?
I rated the value for $ a 5. That is due to green fees.
Nice first visit
Beautiful course, nice layout, challenging but can score. All staff were excellent! Courteous, polite, friendly, professional, helpful. Pleasant experience
Great Course
The new layout is fantastic. Great renovation, wonderful greens, and much more challenging than the previous layout. The only detraction is pace of play...lots of walkers.
Good changes
I like the renovation work on the course. Front side is a good hard test and the backside is your scoring holes. Can't wait for the new clubhouse to be built. Greens are receptive yet fast. Good test overall while having to hit many different shot types with most clubs in your bag.
Great local course
Course remodel was a home run. Greens are excellent and bunker complexes well maintained and challenging. Pricing is somewhat high for a muni course. But, if you look for specials and have flexible scheduling, it's a great deal.
More Mooresville
Fast greens, challenging layout, and the back nine offers excellent scoring opportunities!
Very nice course after upgrades
Mooresville Golf Course (formerly called Mooresville Municipal) was closed for almost two years, starting in about October 2014. My understanding is that Mooresville, NC passed a multimillion dollar bond to upgrage this course. The course was closed for close to two years, and reopened in later 2016. The reviews of this course prior to 2016, are reviews of the old course.
I had played the old course only once, just before closing for renovation in 2014. I thought this was a very good municipal course then.
The new course is very nice, with unique holes, good bunkering, and nice fast dwarf bermuda greens. The present clubhuse is a very small trailor, but a new multimillion dollar clubhouse is being constructed, and should be very nice when open.
The course is not a standard municipal type course, as there are more modern green complexes. The new cart paths are concrete, instead of asphalt. I gave the "off course amenities" only a two star grade since there is only a small trailer for a clubhouse at the time of this review.
I highly recommend this course, especially if you can get a deal online as I did.
manager for large firm
hi, on tuesday 12/27/6 we had a tee time for 4, it was very busy and it started to back up, we didnt notice any ranger and things were getting testy, at some point a ranger showed up to a mess at hole # 2 he was an older gentleman who quickly got down to dispersing the crowd , he was polite yet determined . i was impressed with how quickly he was able to get us going at a good pace , a wile later somewhere in the back nine this gentleman appeared again and proceeded to tell us about the course history and more important how to traverse to course by slowing down our putts and to back down a club on our approach shots. having played all over the USA i was impressed with this mans friendlyness and knowledge which is a rare commodity in todays world . On my next trip south i will surely play at your beautiful course again .
thank you
christine straniero
Greens are slick, bunkers are deep, keep it in play
Nice course, I liked before and after remodel. Greens are more challenging with the make over, a definate plus. Greens are superb. Course is in excellent condition and new design is nice, but I personally liked the original design of the course better. Keep the ball below the hole at all times and read the grain on your putts.
Pay attention to other players teeing off, front side is dangerous with new lay out. Don't park your car to the right of the temporary club house, strong possibility it will get hit. My car was hit with a arrent t shot coming off of #4. This has always been a problem with new design and the old. They need to install a net.
Pace of play can be terrible, fast greens + high handicap golfers equals 5 + hr rounds.
Staff
My first time at the course started out with a mix up which caused our foursome to be held up, we were not happy and decided to leave but a staff member I think his name was Bill he overheard our conversation and approached us and explained that the course was new and was worth the wait he explained the layout and told us about the fast greens and how to approach the greens . We teed off and by hole 3 or 4 bill pulled up and with his friendly manor asked how we were doing at hole 10 he showed up again and followed us for 2 or 3 holes explaining the dificulty with each hole in all my years at many different courses we have never met someone who was as friendly and dedicated bill made us feel special and cared about our experience. We were glad bill talked us into staying and will certainly return thanks to bill PS bill is a keeper. LJ
Great Experience
First time playing this course. Was impressed by the layout and scenery. Greens were fast but true and in great shape. Had a very good experience playing here . Course was challenging as expected. Would recommend playing this course anytime to anyone.
Mooresville New Layout
The newly renovated Mooresville Municipal course is a vast improvement. Greens are perfect and fast. Fairways are excellent and rough is good. Pace of play was extremely slow at 4.5 hours. Only regret was that GPS still downloads the old course so after hole number 2 it is useless.
Overall a fantastic improvement and once the new club house is built it will be a facility and course Mooresville can be proud of..!
Excellent! Thank you for your review Overby57! We'd love to get our pace closer to the 4 hours most courses average, and are working to get our GPS download updated!
Hope to see you again soon!
Great course
Very enjoyed this course. First time played, and understand the course has been revamped, and the job was well done. Everything about the course is beautiful. I'm sure when the club house is finished, it will have all the great amenities i'm will come. Great course, and recommend playing.
Thank you for coming out and supporting us! The clubhouse is coming along great and we can't wait for it to be open! We hope you come again soon and thank you for your review!
Great new layout
Played the course for the first time since they reopened. I was impressed. The greens are the fastest I've played, maybe ever. The improvements they've made are terrific. They did a great job of making this into a really nice golf course. I'll definitely be back.
Thank you for your review Michael! We put a lot of great work into the course and are glad you enjoyed your experience!
We can't wait to have you back!
Redesign
This was the first time playing since the redesign, the layour and conditions were excellent! The 2.5 hours to play nine holes was not excellent, ironically they have signs on the front of all carts saying that plaing a four hour round is fun...I would agree with that, now can they spread out the tee times to 10-11 minutes and enforce that standard?
Thank you for your review and feedback tlc24. We're glad you like the updates to the course!
Excellent redesign and course upgrades
My playing partners and I enjoy playing this course and think it's an excellent value
Glad you enjoyed playing the course with your partners! Thank you for your review zebshue!
