Getting better
It's getting better but $44 for here is just too much.
Staff was awesome especially Mike M.
Good value
The greens & fairways were in nice shape but the tees were in poor condition , the staff were very friendly as were the three local players I was paired with. If you are visiting the area as I was this course is definitely worth considering the fairways are wide the greens are fair & the tees are spaced so everyone can play whatever their handicap. I'm a 4 handicap shot 79 & enjoyed the experience.
Lots of Rough Edges at The Divide
Hadn't played The Divide in several years since the Carolina Trail debacle. Gave it another try today to see what it is like under new management. Most of the staff were friendly and accomodating, with the exception of the person who seemed to be in charge. He was the only one behind the counter when I went in to pay, but he was too busy to wait on me. After our group made our way to the first tee at our tee time, the group before us was just teeing off. The aforementioned person came out and informed us that there was a threesome waiting to tee off before us and then we would go off. We were a twosome and he paired us up with another twosome that were only playing the front 9. When we asked the threesome what their tee time was, they told us the same time as our tee time. I'm not sure how you book five players for the same tee time, but what do I know. As for the course itself, it has some rough edges as well. The greens are quite lush, as a previous reviewer stated. They are relatively free of ball marks. They are however quite grainy. Putts with the grain were lightning fast, while against the grain putts could be struck hard enough to get to the cup. The bunkers all had plenty of sand in them and were in good shape. Roughs and green surrounds were mostly weeds. The fairways were thin with a few bare spots here and there. I noticed fertilizer had been spread on most of them, so it seems as if the course is working to improve them. Tee boxes were a mixed lot. Some were good, while others were bare dirt. The tees on the par-3 seventh hole had been moved up to where the longest shot was 110 yards. Hopefully the conditions at The Divide will continue to improve as it is a good layout with ample room off most tees and greens with quite a bit of movement.
First timer with low expectations
Having lived nearby for 10 years I've heard all the bad reports regarding course conditions. As such I've never bothered to even try it.
I don't know how bad it was at its worst, but it's now fairly decent and by playing preferred lies you can usually find a good lie through the green. The greens have two different kinds of grass growing in them and were fairly slow. Again not too bad and not the worst I've seen this year (award that to Highland Creek).
There were plenty of greens staff out there working hard, so I reckon the course is improving nicely.
The layout was surprisingly good and I'll be back.
Its getting better
The greens are starting to fill in nicely. The rains last week helped soften them up. Course management is making a real effort to put the course back in shape. Repair is still needed on tee boxes, but you can see the work has started. If you have been disappointed in this course in the past it may be time to give it another chance.
The pace of play was okay. Our foursome finished in about 4.5 hrs on Saturday morning.
Good greens, nice layout
Pretty good shape for this time of year although the blue and gold tee boxes were 'growing in.' Too many limbs hanging down on cart path. Pruning is past due. Greens were slow but ran true and not unexpected for May. Overall, a good course for the value.
This is well maintained course
Course was wet cart path only but good round
Go elsewhere
Very letdown by The Divide. Condition of the course was very poor. Needs water and seeding in many places. Tee boxes were in terrible condition. One tee box wasn't even a tee box, just a grass patch. Greens were incredibly slow. And you could celebrate another birthday the pace of play was so slow. 5 hours plus time of play. Will not be returning anytime soon.
Greens better than last time
Played Saturday morning. It has been dry but we gom some rain Friday night. The course had no problems absorbing it and was actually dry. The greens are looking better as they were in bad shape last time l played here. Pace of play was ok. Only a couple of time did the group behind us have to wait but our foursome was able to keep pace with the three some ahead of us so l am sure they had no place to go. My only negative was there was no beverage cart out on the course.
Parker Kenney
Course was in great condition however the greens were in terrible shape. I like the divides layout, staff, and location however I would have a 15ft putt for birdie and my ball would hit sand, and holes and end rolling 5ft. I'd refer this to every one of my friends if the greens were puttable
Greens are trash
The layout is not bad and the fairways were in pretty good shape. The problem was every single tee box sand. The greens were slower than Christmas and about as bumpy as a gravel road. The tee boxes I didn't mind so much but the greens are absolutely terrible.
Back 9 was closed. Greens were just sanded
Good course bad management. No communication of conditions with Golf Now
Only 1 nine open.
The front nine was closed due to plugged greens. I didn't know this ahead of time. Very frustrated.
I was told about the greens and it was at the bottom of my golf now receipt,
Fun Course
Really fun course to play, would love to come back in the summertime when the course is in pristine condition. We came a few days after a rain storm and it was still decently wet, which is no one's fault. Great course and definitely will be back!
Fun course/terrible greens
Really fun course to play...most greens are horrible. Not just winter bad, but burned up, bare spots and bumpy horrible.
Poor Conditions
Had not played here in a couple years, course is in horrible shape. Fairways look like rough, rough looks like a cow pasture. Most of the greens have spots of missing grass. Not worth it even with a low price.
condition
few greens and fairway not good condition but
staff kindness. not much problem
Nice Course
The people are helpful and friendly. The course is a great value and fun
Much improved course
Played this course two years ago and it was in poor condition. Course is much better. Only complaint is pace of play. Five hours to play a round us too long.
I played it the same day and was told about the greens by the golf shop and it was on my sheet from golf now. It said aerification alert on the bottom of my golf now receipt.
