Bad Course
All of the greens were brown.....burnt. fairways had not been cut in many days. Do not waste your time.
Be warned: it is horrible
Really hate to pile on to the woes of the ownership of this formerly good, fun, inexpensive course, but I wish someone had warned me off before we drove an hour to play it. We got there at 830 for a 9 tee time on a Sunday morning, only to find the parking lot empty, nobody on the range or first tee, and the clubhouse door locked. A few minutes later someone arrived to open up, we checked in, hit some range balls and were on our way. Found the first fairway to be "shaggy" at best, apparently not cut in a while. First green was just dead turf and dirt. It only got worse, "fairways" mostly weeds and clover and not mowed in a while. "Greens" were brown dead grass and dirt. Bunkers all had weeds growing up in them. No water in coolers. After 2 or 3 holes it was apparent that the course was near death. After we finished we spoke to a regular who was just going out, and he told us he thought it was in bankruptcy. Hate to see another local course follow Cheviot Hills and Wake Forest into history, so hoping someone buys and restores it. In the meanwhile, they should stop taking people's money without a disclaimer about the conditions.
Bull Creek
Bull creek needs to go ahead and close its' doors, the course was in such bad overall shape that I lost 4 balls off tee shots. Course other than the greens still having some green parts was 2 on a scale of 1 to 10! Can't hardly get upset with $14, a player, but it pushed it pretty close for an area golfer like myself..
Not Worth The Long Ride From Durham
The course was not maintained. Long grass in fairways and tees, sand in bunkers was shells, and the greens were poorly maintained as well. This course has no management, and needs a great deal of work. Will return to Brevofield in Wake Forest. Don't waste your time here, very wet course, and over grown.
Good value for the money
We always enjoy playing at Bull Creek. The course was in decent shape for being this early in the season. Pace of play was good. Staff is always very friendly. The only complaint we had was the food and beverages in the clubhouse were well past their expiration dates.
Good course for the price
Pretty basic course, great value. Friendly staff, relaxed environment, nice greens, fairway was in rough shape but that's probably due to a lot of rain and snow the past few weeks. Really enjoyed myself!
Unique Course
I played Bull Creek for the first time on Sunday, February 2, 2014. It was a great experience for me and my two playing partners.
When I checked in at the clubhouse, I asked the pro to tell me a little bit about the course and he gave me a brief overview of several of the holes that a first-time player would need to know.
While the course was not in plush, pristine shape, it was in very good shape. The greens were very thin but they were consistent and ran true.
The course was very exciting in that there were equal number of par 5s, 4s, and 3s. Also, there were doglegs left and doglegs right, blind shots up hills and even over barns!
The course had great terrain and we saw a beautiful heron in the creek area around one of the part 3s.
All things considered, we had a great golf outing and we will definitely come back again!
Pros and Cons
Pros: Good value, Very open fairways, Friendly staff.
Cons: Greens just ok, Cart path very rough.
great layout
greens are usually in great shape except for the lazy golfers who won't repair there ball marks easy holes but tough ones also for price great deal
We play here almost every week
A bit off the beaten path, but well worth the trip.
I'm glad I only paid $8 to play.
The greens were ok with some greens having issues. The fairways were like a cow pasture that was mowed. The cart paths were horrible.
Nice public course.
This was my first round at Bull Creek. I'm a former collegiate golfer, and I played from the tips on this round and wasn't strained too much from back there, but the distance was enough of a challenge from time to time (540+ yard par 5s, a 220yd par 3). I played solo and with a cart, so I flew around and groups let me play through when I caught them, that was greatly appreciated since there was (for some reason) 5-somes and 6-somes allowed to play. I couldn't quite figure this out, as it wasn't a slow Tuesday on the course, it was a mid-day weekend day when I played. But again, they did let me play through. Course condition: a little shaggy for my liking as greens were quite slow, but it was alright none the less. In terms of other course condition issues, I couldn't figure out why the bunker off the 9th green was soaking wet, nearly unplayable. I shouldn't have hit a shot in there, but I wasn't expecting a plugged lie. I couldn've moved my ball but being a purist, I played it out and ended up taking a double b/c of how the ball plugged (had to hammer it out and trickled my shot off the far side of the green, leading to a chip and a few putts.) Overall, a good municipal course, the price was good (via GolfNow) and I do plan to return to show the course to a friend.
Great condition with great staff! A must play for a true taste of the triangle golf choices.
This course was in great shape! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I played 18 holes for $8 on a hot deal and it was the best deal I've ever discovered! The course was not busy on a Wednesday mid-day, and it gave me plenty of enjoyable shots with great scenery.
Highly recommended
Great course to have a relaxing day of golf. Very friendly staff.
Nice course, fairly easy. Good value for the money.
Fun course to play, but really need to work on the cart paths. A few are paved, but most are just dirt and are washed out.
Great layout!!! Great for high to low handicapers!!! Will return!!
We loved Bull Creek. Fairways and greens were in good shape and the layout was fantastic!!! Great value for the money. It was a 45 minute drive but we will make the trip again for sure.
Fun course
Great value for the money! Fun course to play. Course is well maintained for being out in the middle of Louisburg, NC.
Course had many low lying slushy areas due to all the recent rain, greens were very slow, but still a great value for the money!
Bull Creek is a great value for the money! I've played the course a few times before. Good mix of straight forward holes and strategic holes. Staff is very awesome, cordial and friendly and helpful.
Due to all the recent rainfall, course had many low lying slushy areas on the fairways. Greens were super slow also. Because I have played this course as normal many times, I can give them grace on these problems, its a problem everywhere in my area of NC. Our foursome enjoyed it, including 1 new guy who is just restarting his game again...he wants to go back!
greens and fairways in good condition
they don't enforce their dress code. could use some cart path improvement.
Past reviews are spot on
Have now played here several times. Course is great for golfers trying to tie up loose ends. Long par 4 and par 5's allow skilled drivers to "let loose". Greens are very consistent. Par 3's are fun holes to play. If you are looking for a negative: the first time out the cart paths will confuse you and beware, you need an ATV for most of it.
