Tallgrass Golf Club is one of Long Island's top ranked golf courses, earning the no. 9 spot on GolfWeek's "Best Courses You Can Play" in New York. Though Tallgrass is open to the public, it has the feel of a private club, complete with a Hamptons-style clubhouse. The golf course has a Scottish links-style layout that sprawls across more than 150 acres of gently rolling farmland. The layout features wide open fairways and well manicured greens. Like on any traditional links course, you'll find both pot and waste bunkers strategically placed throughout. The false fronts on the greens, tall fescue grasses, and blustery winds that sweep across the open landscape add further to the links feel. Tallgrass Golf Club can be a challenge but there is also enough room for error to allow high handicappers can still feel like they have a chance.
