Tremendous Layout

This course has one of the most interesting layouts that gives the feel of some golden age designs that we know and love. Smaller greens, smaller bunkers, hilly terrain, absolutely love the layout. With that being said, the course conditions aren’t great.

I understand the course sold sometime over the years and they don’t have the financial backing they used to, because with some finer conditions, this would be one of the most architecturally interesting courses in the area.

It’s a value to play ( <$30 walking) and the walk is fairly easy, though there are a few holes that may challenge someone who doesn’t walk frequently. Try to play during a stretch of dry days since the course struggles with drainage.

Not Good...

They have a lot of deals for this place and pictures of it looked nice... but its not. Burnt out, dry, greens in rough shape etc. Not worth it even for the $15 you can get it for sometimes, the place is a hot mess. We got a good laugh at the fairway bunkers though... hard to describe but they are like not cut into the grass, like they just had a bad area of grass so they just shoveled a bunch of sand into the fairway.

Course wasn’t very well marked

Very dry, if you hit fairway ball rolled quite a bit. Need more signs directing you from green to next tee box. Thankfully only paid $25 using golf now

Getting better and better...

I've played Oneida Community a handful of times in the last few years. Conditions have been largely weather dependent in the past, as it doesn't drain well in places. My wife and I played it this past Friday and it was in nice shape from tee to green. The pace of play was speedy, as we were done in 3.5 hours, even while waiting on a few tee boxes and hunting for a few errant shots. The restaurant had good food (try the stuffed mushrooms!) and we sat on the deck and enjoyed the weather and scenery. Well worth your time.

Very disappointed

We called a couple of days ahead and requested a tee time and were told not to bother because there would be no problem getting on. When we arrived at the time suggested we discovered that there was a tournament set for an hour later. When the "pro" was told that it would have been nice if we were told that she responded that it was a last minute tournament. That statement seemed rather strange since there were door prizes set up along with signage at every hole.

On to the course, poorly maintained, tee boxes were a mess and you needed a hammer to get a tee in the ground. The greens were ok and their speed was about average.

I would not recommend this course and have no intention of going back.

Walked

Historic Oneida Ltd. course

This historic course is over 100 years and was for most of those years a private course available only to its corporate employees and guests . Now public ,the course consists of rolling hills and fairways crossed by several streams . Some shot strategy comes into play. Some of the holes don't drain very well after a rainy day. Still, an interesting golf experience worth the trip.
