Winding Hills Golf Club
About
Winding Hills Golf Club in Montgomery is a challenging course that will give you some practice with your irons and test your short game skills. This formidable short course is much tougher than it appears. The designer, Steve Esposito, modeled the layout after Jeff Cornish's Blue Rock Course in Cape Cod. The narrow, tree-lined fairways require accuracy. Strategically placed sand traps frame the small greens and several water hazards come into play as well. The holes vary in length and each is unique from one another. You may be surprised to find that you have to use all the clubs in your bag. The ninth hole is arguably Winding Hills Golf Club's toughest. This par 3 requires a long and demanding carry to a green that's sloped back to front.

Nice course
Great to work on your short game! Beautiful views!
NICE COURSE BUT NOT MY STYLE
One might think that because these holes are for the most part, short, the course would be fairly playable. I found however, that while you can land on the green, it is very hard to hold the greens. They are strongly pitched and balls roll completely off the green, even on what appear to be well struck and lofted shots. The greens are very fast and when you combine that with strongly sloped, you have a tough combination to putt on.
Great course!
Front 9 is super challenging but overall a great course to play! Certainly helps tighten up your short game!!
Some greens will not hold a putt
This course is a very nice and scenic course. It is made up of par 3 and par 4 holes. The only negative is that this is a mountain course and some greens will not hold a putt. By this I mean that if you miss a putt the greens are so undulated that the ball may roll back to you or off the green altogether. Other than that this is a very nice "executive" type of course.
great course for short game
iam just comming back to playing golf after thirty years of not playing.this course is like playing on a high end country club but through golf now it is very affordable.
Beautiful course
Course was beautifully kept and check in for tee time was very simple. This was a fast play tee time which was the only bad part because basically tee times were only divided by 4 minutes a piece. So there was a line of carts waiting to tee off even though we arrived right on time. Was hoping to see more holes to use our drivers on but the course was mostly par 3s. Very relaxing extremely beautiful and worth every penny we paid
Great hidden gem of a course.
I played this course a few years ago and was totally surprised at not only the condition but also the improvements made in just 2 years. Tee boxes were level and well maintained. The greens ran true but because of the different tiers/slopes it made reading them a challenge. A number of double breaks and speed variations made this, comparatively short course a lot of fun to play. This is great course to work on your short game. You can leave your driver at home and bring an extra wedge. The pace of play is quick and they have rangers out to make sure it stays that way. It is also very pleasing to the eye and some of the tee to green distances are deceiving. Many holes require playing up at least one club. All in all I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a fast paced, fun round of golf. They also have a great restaurant, with good food at reasonable prices.
Great golf on a beautiful, well kept course.
My son and I enjoyed a great morning of Par 3 golf on this absolutely beautiful, pristine, very well maintained course. I have already recommended Winding Hills to several of my friends and I intend to make trips up there again. The staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Challenging Par 57
If you want to work on your short game and accuracy of yardage, you need to play this course; sorry, but there are NO PAR 5's. Your putting skills will be tested on the speedy green. My 9 year old son loves this course too.
Greens are very challenging
The staff was very courteous and friendly. The fairways and greens were in great condition.
good course to start golf season or practice short game
with so many courses in the area i would only play with specials here , also they should not make the par 4 cart path only. i wish golf now would add town of wallkill , tarry brae and lockmoor to the list for hudson valley
The greens on this course are Country Club quality
While the course is short for an 18 holes, the playing conditions are superb(felt like a country club). The staff was outstanding and it only took me 2 hours to get thru the rounds (and this was walking with no cart). The views are excellent and I would recommend to visit this course. I know that I will revisit this course again.
Great to practice short game.
Great course to practice your short game and get more hitting on par 3's. Some really short holes but overall a good course.
Know what you're getting
Overall a decent, well kept, par 3 course. I booked it last minute seeing it was 18 holes, but failed to realize it was a par 3. So right off the bat I was a little disappointed. The pace of play was SUPER slow. I waited at least 10 minutes to tee off on each hole, and actually skipped 2 holes. It said fast play on the confirmation, not the case. My only real issue aside from slow play, was too many very short holes- 115 yards and under from the whites. You don't get much iron work other than 9-SW. I actually tee'd off on 3 holes with my SW. Some tricky greens make for good putter work though.
