Wow!!
I had the privilege to play this course recently and all I can say is wow!! What a beautiful course.
I will say off course amenities are non existent so make sure you bring your own water or snacks as they have vending machines in the clubhouse and that's it. The course itself is incredible a very long and scenic course. The champion tees measure at around 7200 yards and the white tees measure around 6300, gets alittle confusing on the course as there is no yardage markers at all and only small numbers on the tees marking the holes. Make sure you have an app like swing by swing or 18 birdies for yardage.
The course itself was in very good shape. Yes there is alot of sand as previous reviewers have noted.
If you have the opportunity to play here do it..
Excellent Layout, poor Condition
This is Rees Jones architect design and is a very challenging layout. Also you can play in under 3 1/2 hours for a round. A cart is recommended over walking this layout.
I have played this course over the years but over the past 5 years, the condition has steadily declined. The owner has used limited staff resources to keep it well maintained. Sand bunkers have many rocks, tees have many weeds.
The greens and fairways are in decent shape.
The owner has been offering discounted memberships but there doesn't seem to be too many takers until conditions improve.
There isn't any decent amenities for a clubhouse, just a small snack shop that offers some canned beer or soda. No food, no wine, no alcohol.
This has not changed in 18 year of operation.
I hope they can improve conditions equal to the quality of the architectural design of this course.
Save you money
I'm sorry to say that the conditions were absolutely terrible. Although the course is fairly well designed. In my humble opinion is just rolling hills with a lot of sand traps. If you want a high rating on slope value you just don't put sand traps. You need hazards strategically placed maybe a few dog legs left and right maybe a lake every now and then even some trees would be nice if not for the aesthetics but for the shade
