Fun holes off the bay, otherwise a nice, straightforward regular course.

I played the Blue and Red nines, with the Blue being the one with the holes on the bay. Those have pretty views and a few very cool holes because you are right off the water. Two of the par-3s are notable for the water and views. The Red nine layout was very basic, with lots of straight flat holes back to back. Overall the greens on both were good. They had interesting slope and some challenging bunkering, and were in very good condition. Fairways on both nines are generally flat. Some holes have some blind shots or decisions on carrying water or playing safe. The wind is a factor on many of the holes on the Blue. It's a decent course if you are nearby and want to get out for a round.

Nice Layout, Beautiful Views, Good Shape

Course is in great shape. The windy day made the course much tougher than normal. While it tends to be a little be of spot golf, the front nine (red) gives you an easy wide open first 7 holes before the challenge begins. Fairways and greens in nice shape, roll true, not fast, not slow.

Many walkers, but currently (covid 19) individual carts aloud ($18), which keeps slower golfer playing fast. Might be slower pace once they go back to 2 per cart.

Course amenities were not open due to Covid 19, so i cant speak to those

Really enjoyed, looking forward to playing again.

Always windy

This is one of my local courses and I play it quite often. I dislike playing the combination of Blue/white and much prefer playing Red/Blue. Part of the problem is that I always find that the white course is very marshy and wet. It is also not maintained as well as the Red and Blue courses for some reason. There are always a lot of wet muddy spots around holes 2 and 4 and it is a confusing layout where it intersects with the Blue course. The Blue course is very challenging and has great views of the Great South Bay. Also pace of play has been slow this season around 5 hour rounds.

Timber Point

Great Course and love the lay out. The greens are very slow for my liking. Fairways great shape and tee boxes. Only knock was the sand traps. Very bad. Need to spend money there. Pace of play was slow.

Fun muni

Played here for the first time today and was nervous because of reviews front friends. Apparently the course was in really bad shape before hurricane sandy, but it has since rebounded. I played blue to white. Blue is a great 9 hole stretch. Both par 3s are stunning, but the uphill par 3 that’s 200 yards straight into the water is beautiful. The white is pretty boring and unremarkable, but not awful like people say. Timber point used to be a private CC and most of the holes from blue and red were part of that club. I’d really like to go back and play blue and red together.

The course was a bit under water, but you can’t really blame them for that. It’s rained basically 20 straight days in NY. The only problem I have is the bunkers were atrocious. The sand was just bad and there were stones, not pebbles, the size of my fist all over the bunker. That’s a small detail they need to address. I really wish Suffolk would put a bit more money into this place to make it great.

Good Long Island Muni

Played this course heading toward 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock, and it's readily close to the ISP MacArthur Long Island airport, less than 20 minutes away. 3 nines provide enough variety and flow. Played the Red-Blue combo and finished in just over 4 hours. Seems to be a classic old country club turned public course as the clubhouse was a classic old wooden structure. Staff got us out and answered questions friendly and helpful. Little or no wind the day we played. The Blue 9 is right out on the water, nice views. Conditions were very good to excellent. I'd play this again given the value and conditions.

Good value

The course is a tale of 2 nines. The red course is a very mediocre municipal style course. Not bad, just boring and in normal shape. The blue course however, is absolutely beautiful. I think 5 of the 9 holes were on the bay with spectacular views. The course was not overly difficult, but it was well worth the money we spent. The restaurant had great food and had a nice setup. I would definitely recommend this to the weekend warrior type golfers.
