Good quirky course
The course has 9 greens, but 14 separate tee boxes. So, it plays a little weird but, there is a different front/back nine feel.
The fairways and greens were in amazing shape considering the very dry summer we have had,
There is a good club house that unfortunately has a very limited menu and very early closing hours. If they found a way to manage the restaurant better, this would be a much better place to play.
Great private course
Greens VG. Everything improving. Should join now before membership is full
Once was enough
Nice mountain views but it appears their is no upkeep potholes on cart path and very few signs to next holes
Great deal!
I live in Westchester, where a round at a public course can cost $100. Course was in great shape and staff couldn't be friendlier. My second time here - I love it.
beautiful views.
Hole #1 doglegs right over the road.
Fantastic shape and under New Ownership
This 9 hole hidden gem is in great condition. It is under new ownership and they are taking the initiative to fix up the course where need be. The course is greener than ever and is playing like it should. The new Restaurant is delicious as well! I would definitely recommend coming up to Storm King to not only play golf, but to enjoy the food.
poorest excuse for a "golf course"
This course should be dropped by Golfnow. Between the blind tee shots through power lines and over a public road, trying to locate tee box's and putting on aerated dirt this track was the worst I have ever played on. We took advantage of a $13.00+(16 with internet fees) advertised on Golfnow. If you want to spend $6 more than a large bucket of balls at you local driving range, this track may be for you. Plan on a 5.5 hour round if it's your first time here. The long round time isn't due to other players, just wasted time looking for tee box's
Course with low operating budget
This is an average course with fair conditions. No drinking water stations, restrooms and the ball cleaning stations had no water. The course has potential with beautiful surroundings.
Great golf
I played here and I have to tell you the views from the 9th and 18th green are spectacular, you have almost 360 degrees of some of New York finest mountains. The play was great greens were great. I shot a 90 this day but who cares the views were prefect.
Good greens and tees
I found this course to be rather tricky...an unusual layout with some long holes. Many of the fairways were sparse because of the summer heat, and one green was completely devoid of grass, but otherwise, the course is in average condition. It's a 9 hole course, so on my second time around, I began to like it. It was a Golf Now hot deal and was worth the price.
Normally a nice course but in need of water.
The course is presently bank owned and they have hired a golf course management company to run it. The fairways seem a little dry, greens are dry as well. Everything plays fast. Not sure why they are not watering the course more frequently, they have the water to do so. A few rainstorms would help make it green again. The clubhouse is closed due to restaurant operator going out of business. There is no food service or bar here. The place has great views and is a challenging 9 hole course that was built in the late 1800's.
Not happy
It appears this course is going down the drain and fast. Everything was burnt. Cart paths were falling apart. No real pro shop.
Staff was extremely unprofessional drinking among others things. The bank has foreclosed on this course apparently which explains a lot I wish I knew before I paid. Never again!
Nice Golf Course in Cornwall NY
Upon seeing that Storm King golf course in Cornwall NY was now open for public play, I thought I'd give it a shot. I had driven by the place for many years, but never had the opportunity to play as it was private for many years.
The course is physically 9-holes with 2 sets of tees for 18 hole play. Given the day I played was a quasi-holiday, the course was crowded and tee-times were backed-up about 1/2 hour upon arrival, but the staff was able to match me up with an alternate threesome and I was only 10 minutes delayed off my original tee-time.
I thought the course was in excellent shape - tee-boxes, fairways, greens all in fine condition. I did find that you have to be really careful at this course in terms of watching out for errant shots (both incoming and outgoing) - it's easy for errant shots to become a hazard to other groups either waiting on next tee or on adjacent fairways/greens. There are also a few blind shots that you really need to make sure you clear the fairway ahead of your shot as there could be groups ahead still hitting that you are not aware of.
Overall, the layout seems fine and challenging given the tight real estate that the course occupies - I found that you can use driver on most of the par-4s and par-5s which surprised me - so long hitting is certainly possible here due to the layout.
I will definitely come back to SKGC in the future, but probably on a less busy day. I realize that it's a challenge for any 9-hole course to manage pace and backups given the dual tee-box situation, so you will have to hope for the best on the day you decide to play.
Disappointed
Did not realize this is only a 9 hole course so you go around twice. Great views, greens in very good shape. Cart paths very rough and no info on holes.
Better than expected
This course is owned by a bank, use to be a private club. No food or beverages, the facility has been closed except for the pro shop. The course is in good shape, being well maintained by a skeleton crew. Cart path only on 1, 9, 10, & 18. The rest of the course is 90 deg. The only problem is the course is a 9 hole course with two sets of tee boxes. Can be confusing at times.
Good deal and scenic views
I have played here 2times.its tough course as its narrow in most fairways. It's 9 hole course but on the second nine you play from a different tee box so this makes it more interesting . You play the first 9 from the blue tee box and the last nine from the white tee box. This is also a very scenic golf course where there are some breathtaking views. The staff is friendly and there is no food service.
Very solid track
This course was private last year. Good conditioning and fast greens the tool true. Some long par fours. Interesting layout with multiple tee boxes. A fun course to play.
