Beautiful Course
Played over Columbus Day Weekend with some friends, conditions were legitimately perfect, 70 degrees and sunny. Got out at 9am, pace with good and the course was in amazing shape. Challenging but fun, and the apple orchard on the front 9 is a really unique aspect. Can't recommend it enough.
Orchard Creek
One of the premier public courses in the NY-Capital Region. Enjoy playing this course, even with the blind shots. Fairly fast greens. Challenging but fair. Nice views of the Helderberg escarpment. Rates are graduated, expensive before 10am, reasonable from 10-noon, good after noon.
Albany county's secret
If you ask 9 out of 10 capital district golfers they will have no clue what or where this course is. Unfortunately they don't advertise anywhere but if you are within an hour you have to play here. Super fun, challenging, CHEAP, free apples everywhere (but its not recommended because they purposely spray pesticides on only some trees to keep people from picking them). The fascilities are Awsome and food is even better. You can play 18 with a cart for 30 bucks with a golf card (after 11). Only bad thing is pace of play but its not the courses fault. It's because there are so many blind shots and over valleys etc...
Go for it.
I was in a league that played there. The course has always
been maintained to very good or excellent conditions.
Hope I can return before the season ends.
