Awesome Shape
This course is in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were top notch. Forget the county courses. Worth the money.
Over the last few years they've spent a lot of money on improvements
course has come a long ways, they've helped Fix the drainage problems, improved the greens. It's really very nice course now.,
Bring your own
Course was ok, early season and coming off aeration. Problem with the management staff. On course assistants were fine. Went to bar to get a hot dog or something to eat and was told it doesn't open til May 1. So we went into the pro shop and they had nothing, not a granole bar or candy bar nothing. So we went back to club house after the front nine for a beer and was charged $10 for a can of Coors Light. When we asked the woman behind the desk, her reply was "I don't set the prices"
nice course but the prices are somewhat steep
Course is in good shape. Pace of play on back 9 was slightly slow but that was due to 3some in front of us. I only saw the ranger once and that was to check on water supply at one of the holes vs. pace of play of groups. There was a cart girl driving around but only saw her once. Carts are fantastic.....seats are super comfortable, GPS built in and there is USB ports in the cart and I believe you can Bluetooth music to speakers if you choose. The Tavern wasn't open for food other than chips it appeared but liquor was flowing freely as needed.
I like the course but the prices are kind of steep in my honest opinion....$118 per person before noon and $98 after.....I'm wondering if that is due to all construction of housing nearby and making it more "lux".
They've spent a lot of money upgrading this course. It would have been perfect have they not sanded the greens?
The course had just been sanded on all the teas so we could only play the back 9 twice.
Raising prices and still under construction
Sun Eagles is a beautiful course. It’s a Tillinghast design and it’s great to see it being given serious funding for improvements (unlike its Tillinghast neighbor Old Orchard). My only issue is they have really bumped these fees up as of late. I understand you have to pay for renovations some how and that they may be trying to spruce up the course in general, but this whole area is filled with courses of that revere and they’re still charging an arm and a leg in comparison. The course has also been under repair for 2-3 years now. They’re doing serious adjustments (redoing entire green complexes) so it’s understandable, but just know you’ll pay 120 and then be restricted due to construction. I can’t wait for it to be finished and hopefully they keep it public and affordable.
Will be nice when done
It is obvious that the course will be nice when complete. However with all the construction, false green, only 1 peg for each hole as a tee box it was not worth the money. However in the future we will try again because it's not course neglect but rather a work in progress
Progressing nicely
Course continues to go through rehabilitation, so tees are temporary. The most challenging item is the many bunkers, the sand is in great shape only bunker draining problem was on the 8th hole with held quite a bit of water. Although we had cart path only, it was not crowded but we played a 4:30 round, we plan on continuing to play there thru rehab and improvements
Under construction
Call before you go and ask if construction is finished
Renovating right
Course renovations continue, some holes were fairway only, understandable, some rain recently made the course soft. We had a great time, as we took advantage of a "Hot deal"
Fast Greens, Great condition!
Love this course. Surprised how the greens were rolling as fast as a bowling lane, which I do not remember always being the case. They keep the course in great condition, and I cant complain about a single thing.
Winter gilf
Found a nice day with little wind. Appreciate they are pumping funds into this course. Very excited to play this Spring after work is completed! Some temporary tee boxes and a temp green, but looks good. Cart path Only, but good idea to keep fairways in good condition!
Construction zone!!
Expensive round considering the chainsaws and construction going on/off everywhere. Waste of time until they sort the course out. It's more accurate of a statement to say the golf course got in the way of the buildings than the other way around. We have such great places to go play in the area, this would be on par with Cruz Farm on a rainy day and double the price.
Positives would be GPS in the carts and..... that's about it. They actually stuck a flag in the fairway and called it a green? Thats not an exaggeration it's because of winter issues and construction. I literally putted on a fairway today?? If they gave a discount or at least a warning I might have let it go. It was hard to even find the next hole with only about half of them marked. I could go on, but I already am giving this course to much afterthought. It's worse than bad seafood. Save your money and go anywhere else until they figure out priorities. I wish I had this review before I lost 85 dollars.
Disclaimer:
I just got home so I'm still a bit bitter when writing this. I don't get many weekdays off to play and I just paid hard earned money and time for not much satisfaction.
Impressive improvements
I played the course in the past, it did not drain well even if rained several days earlier. Improvements have the course draining well, and the bunkers were 90% dry. The work being done is very nice, the holes are challenging and difficult greens with varing undulation, short holes that are deceivingly tough. While there were temporary tee boxes and a temporary green, my group enjoyed the round.
