One of the newer courses in the Las Vegas area, Tuscany Golf Club is a Ted Robinson design in Henderson that lets you get going early, gradually building the difficulty level until you're in the gauntlet of the 16 through 18 stretch.
No. 18 was designed to be one of the toughest finishing holes in Sin City and the plan worked. About halfway through this 440-yard par 4, the fairway seems to disappear. You're suddenly shooting down on a severe angle to a green guarded by water.
So much for breezing to the finish. Unless you count the fact that wind is often right in your face on this Silverstone climax.
"You can lose your lunch or really finish off a good round on 16 through 18," director of golf Tom Vold said.
