Good for the price.
Saw the price on golfnow $19 for 3:50pm tee time, so i thought id check it out. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The place was very empty on that day. The course is in pretty bad shape, very hard dry patchy fairways and rough, but the greens are in good shape. The area is a bit sketchy, group of kids loitering around alleyways by cart path smoking "cigarettes". Dogs barking at you through the fence while you're hitting. Not the most scenic locations aside from glimpse of the strip in the far distance. Still i enjoyed playing single at my own pace since im a beginner. Not a bad deal for the price but i not worth the 30 minute drive from my home.
Poor condition
We decided we would move the ball in the fairway to a patch of grass since much of it is still dormant. Young kids working the course were not helpful. Will not go back.
What can I say
We golf in Las Vegas every year for about 12 years. We had never played or heard of Black Mountain. At $49 twilight, we thought we were going to play a decent course. The course wasn't very well kept. Very dry. The staff was very friendly and helpful but none of my group including myself want to play there again.
Glad i plyed here
Played this course several times 9 years ago while I was working construction on the strip.. The course was more lush and the clubhouse more vibrant back then. The course use to have 3 nine hole courses but they had to close the Desert Course for financial reasons. Today really gave me that feeling that the middle class is shrinking and the younger smaller middle class just can't afford or make the time to do what we love. Golf!
The staff was great, the greens were great.
I would recommend this course as a pretty darn good value and would play again.
Black Mountain Golf Course Henderson NV.
Fun course. It's not the best groomed course, but I liked it. The greens were nice. And the bunkers were soft. No cart girl. But great PBR bucket deal. I'll definitely go back.
NICE COURSE
THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME TO PLAY THE COURSE, WEATHER WAS GREAT AND STAFF FRIENDLY. GREENS WERE NICE AND FAIRWAYS WERE GOOD JUST DORMANT.
Great all around experience
Started by arriving early so we grabbed a breakfast burrito which was excellent.
Hit balls on the range, chipped, putted, and away we went. 3 hrs and 45 min later we were done and that included a beverage/snack stop at the turn.
Greens were fast and rolled true. Fairways were dormant and brown in many areas but they still played fine. A few hidden sight lines on the front nine. Was lucky not to find hazards twice.
Will go back.
Black Mountain Vegas
Overall layout was good. Fairway conditions was pre-season and grass was still dormant. Greens were in good shape and very challenging. There was a good variation of hole yardages especially for the par 3 holes. Most of the greens were well guarded by multiple sand traps.
Greens were decent.
Greens. Not much grass otherwise couldn't complain rate was very affordable
this course had zero green fairway grass
I know it's not the growing season but some green would be good. The actual greens rolled true.
Black Mt Needs Grass
For the "lush" time of year in Las Vegas, this course was pretty barren.
The worst golf course in las vegas
No maintenance meaning the only green is the putting green. The entire fairway is all dead grass. I gave them a second chance to see if they improved but I was wrong and I regret to play there. It will destroy your clubs because you are hitting balls on sand that feels like sand paper. They should close that course if they don't want to water the grass. Even if they give me free play I will not do it..
Good value for the money
Routes thru housing development, so have to be fairly accurate. Good greens, traps not so much. FAirways spotty at this time of year, half dormant. Carts are electric with onboard ice cooler and wet towels provided.
Got a 21 dollar deal. Course needs maintenance. Greens good. Rest of course very little green
Poor Course Condition and Tee Management
Our twosome was out behind a FIVESOME who were in a competition... naturally we waited at at least half the holes... fairways & teeboxes is in poor condition, greens not too bad.
Poor condition
This has to be the worse kept course in Nevada. Poor conditions compared to others in the area. A little R&R would go a long way.
