So Many Trees!

Sometimes being available is better than being good. I played Covington Links today because it was the only course around that wasn't overrun with water. But I don't think I'd ever play it again.

The Good:
The greens were surprisingly good. They rolled very true and had nice pace. They also held well.

The Average:
The course condition was just okay. The fairways were thin and the tees weren't level. Also there were a lot of leaves to deal with.

The Not So Good:
Covington Links has the most trees in play of any course I've ever played. There are trees everywhere! The 15th hole has a tree in the middle of the fairway. I started on the back 9 today and didn't have a clean approach shot until the 17th hole. The trees also encroach on many of the tee shot windows. It's just way too much. I know tree removal is expensive but this course badly needs it.

I can't recommend Covington Links. With all the trees and the lack of conditioning, it's just not worth it.

Great find

This is an 18 hole course that doesn't have a ton of length, but is well protected by trees and hazards. I really liked playing there. The pace was great, the greens were in excellent shape and played faster than most public courses. They have plenty of long par 5's and mix in some fun par 3's. the layout is a little funky, but they end up with a sharp dog leg to finish that give you a chance to make a decision.
