I arrived from my tee time that I booked on golf now a half hour early. Tea time was at 12:18. The parking lot was roped off and the only area you could get to was the area called The Barn. There were several people there. They said the course was closed because the clubhouse the previous day had a fire. When I looked back I saw that the whole roof looked like it had caved in from the fire. So, I didn't get to play. I was told that the course would send me a rain check to be used at a future date during the week.
Zero stars
Let’s put aside the course with its deliberately slow pace, mediocre conditions, slanted fairways, and blind shots galore.
Worst customer service you will see anywhere.
Consider yourself lucky if you don’t end up leaving feeling threatened or belittled.
Challenging
The course was at it's finest, with fast undulating greens and blind approaches. It's always humbling for me to play here where anything from a birdie to double bogey can be had at the next hole.
Woods Fort
Pace of play was horrible due to the 3-man scramble which turned into 2 groups joining together for a 6-some. A five and a half hour round isn’t fun! The entire day was hit and wait on every shot, oh, and not a single Marshall on the course. Pin placements were beyond reasonable as every single pin was placed in the middle of the greens worst slope making it impossible to putt. Weather you were above or below the hole didn’t matter. This course was one of our favorites to play but we won’t be going back anytime soon.
Course Worth the Drive to get there
Course was in great shape.
They moved the back 9 starting hole which was a good move. #10 is now the old #15. The old #10 is now #14.
But they did not have signage near the putting green to indicate this which should be added.
SLOW PLAY
Good: Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape.
Love the layout...you have to hit many different shots.
GPS on carts are spot on.
Bad: SLOW PLAY. No ranger or marshal on the course on a Sunday afternoon. Foursome had as many as 4 groups on a hole at any given time. The slow play has to be monitored by the pro shop.
Greens were recently aerated and there's no chance of knowing where your ball will travel on putts. My guess is give it two weeks and hopefully the holes will fill in with grass.
I realize aeration is a necessity but it sure seemed like the holes were not filled with enough top dressing. Also the slow play is about the players and not the club house, but if no one is policing the course, people will do whatever they want.
Woods not play again
Terrible pin locations, green rolls that don’t make sense, an in general confusing layout, and cart path only when the grass could catch fire and it’s 100 degrees outside doesn’t make sense. This place is “special” alright. Over priced and nothing great
Extremely underrated
I would say this course is one of the most underrated courses in the St.Louis area although it’s in Troy, and a further drive for most, this course is extremely well kept, tee boxes, greens, even the fair ways. They try to cut the over grown stuff frequently too, if ur unlucky enough to send a ball in those areas. It is easily a top 3 course for me for the quality and price, I’m a little above average so I liked to think I know what I’m talking about when it comes to courses, and this one folks, is a great one.
Great layout don’t think an early tee time means fast play
The tee times were messed up from the start of the day. We were delayed two slots and there was no starter. No Marshall on the course to keep players moving either. After hitting tee shots on 1 we stood in the fairway for 15 minutes waiting to hit our second shot.
I will not return, when I asked the clubhouse staff member we were greeted with an attitude of I know better than you. We were the 5th 4 some off for the day and it took us two and a half hours to play the front 9. We left after that 9 because of the slow play.
Course is a good challenge
Course was in very good condition, green were a little hard and dry even teeing off just before 9.
A gem
This course is well, worth the drive.it is private club like in terms of layout and conditions.
sunday golf
It was a spur of the moment to go play. Had an 11:30 tee time. As always, Angie Colbert was so friendly & helpful. Always good to see her. It was pretty busy but, the pace of play was ok. The course was in good shape. Hopefully as the weather gets warmer, the grass will fill in. We play here once a week. Enjoy it very much.
