Great course layout
A lot of doglegs, changing elevations, overall this course has it all.
Eclipse Special
I wanted to play during the eclipse and Sullivan was going to be in the totality area. I always enjoy playing Sullivan CC. It is challenging for me and they have GREAT deals!!!
Nice course, leave driver in bag as it is fairly tight
A challenging course
This course is pretty tight with fairways lined by large trees. It rewards accuracy.
Great course
My sister was in town and wanted to play golf. She is just learning the game. She loved the course. We stopped after the 9th hole and had some lunch. Great burgers. I think she will be wanting to play golf at Sullivan Country Club every time she is in town!
Sullivan CC
I have played this course as a guest 5-10 times and the price keeps me coming back. Watch the days ahead, because it varies per day. This course for me can be very challenging but I am a 23 handicapper. The course was in good form and the rough is not too much of a problem, even with the heavy rains we experienced last week, so they handle drainage very well. Lots of trees and sand and some water/ditches to make it a challenge for all golfers of all levels. I normally play alone and have never had to wait more than a couple of holes to be allowed through, so not only are the staff great, but the membership has a great attitude for keeping the pace of play moving along. I will keep coming back!
Ok course for the money
Had business in the area so we thought we'd give this course a try. Course was in good shape for the time of year. The big problem was was the two groups of five in front of us. They wouldn't allow us (a twosome)to play through. We had to jump ahead three holes then go back at the end and pick up those skipped holes. Because of the fivesomes probably won't play again.
Nice course-Good value
I play here about once or twice a month, during the week. The weather has been unusually wet all summer and drainage of the bunkers is a problem, many of them retaining water. Other than that, with the ten inches of rain that fell in the last week, the course drained well and was not muddy or soggy. The course is never crowded and pace of play is fast. The greens are always in good shape with very few unrepaired ball marks. Putting is a pleasure here. From the black (back) tees, the course is quite challenging and from the gold (next up) the course is fun, but still a challenge. I alternate black/gold just for the sake of variety and to use different clubs and strategy. The course is blessed with a lot of beautiful old, trees and the course is well designed, an out, and out-and-back type course and is very walkable. It is usually a short distance from one green to the next tee. For a long hitter, the course is probably rather easy, but for me, as a senior and hitting my average drives 215 to 220, the course gives me a good challenge. I recommend this course.
Great Greens
Greens were in great shape and fast for this time of year.
Sullivan country club
Overall a pretty nice course. Only problem was yardage wasn't marked very well at all. Other than that decent course.
Did not play
There were thunderstorms in the area and I could not play
Hot, but fun day.
Played the Golfnow noon hot tee time for $10/18 on a Saturday, that can't be beat. Even though this is over an hour drive, it was worth it to us. The tee boxes were ok, greens were a little slow, and the fairways were ok but really could use a good rain. This course has plenty of diversity with water, terrain and elevation changes and an interesting layout. Could use a rest room on the back nine. The "drinking" water on the course was horrendous. Just put some ice in the coolers and let it melt, at least it would be filtered and drinkable.
extremely nice staff
Country course in good shape, the greens are in good shape but on the slow side,
enjoyable course abit flat though!
enjoyable course, although a bit flat, the rough was
thick, could have been perhaps mowed better, and the fairways were somewhat irregular.
A great stop
This is one of my favorite courses. It isn't the flashiest, but the layout is just fun. I don't know another word to put other than fun. The other thing is that, during the week, the pace of play is always fast. I normally play solo as I play while I'm traveling and twice in five days I did 36 holes in 3 hours. This isn't to say the course is empty, but the golfers in Sullivan are very respectful as are the great staff workers.
If you're looking for a grade "A" place with all the bells and whistles this might not be your place, but if you want a course that will give you a mild challenge at a great price with a typical brisk pace of play while traveling down I-44 I strongly suggest you take the stop and play in Sullivan.
Would do again if got the chance!
Though I had to drive 30 miles to play this course, I would do it again especially for the bargain I got through Golfnow. Nice day of play.
the cost
We got a "hot deal" otherwise its a 30 dollar round per. Thats WAY to much for this course. The greens were punched a week ago s o we were told that going out. But still very very rough. With that said once they come back they will be great greens.
