Millwood Golf & Racquet Club - Fun, Quirky Residential Club in Ozark Area
The Good: Millwood Golf & Racquet Club is a nice little private club just south of Springfield, MO that is intertwined with an exclusive, impressive residential community with monstrous homes. This fun, quirky design from Chicagoland’s own Greg Martin has a nice quartet of Par-3’s and great closing holes to each nine. Certainly not a “grip it and rip course”, with many very tight holes, subtly tough greens, and a very nice clubhouse. The course overall was in good shape and the greens putt true. Very accommodating, unpretentious staff with solid on-course amenities and service.
The Bad: The greens rolled well, but unfortunately they didn’t hold shots the way I had hoped. The first hole has a ridiculously challenging tee shot, as I prefer to ease into the round a little more. Disappointing practice facilities with no short game area and an oddly placed driving range into water & can’t hit long irons or woods because you risk hitting the homes behind the pond. Not a big fan of several sentinel trees that blocked or forced awkward approach shots.
The Verdict: Millwood was a nice addition to our annual golf trip in the Branson area and was a great warm-up prelude for what was to come. A course I could envision playing everyday and enjoying, which is the testament to a good golf course.
Best Hole: I was a big fan of the closing hole, a medium-length Par-4 that requires a slight fade off the left fairway bunkers and an approach to a green heavily guarded by traps and a nice water feature to the right.

Great course
Millwood is always in great shape. Greens are true. Course requires accurate placement of tee shots. Several good risk-reward holes. Picturesque with trees and water. Carts only allowed in fairways
Very Slow on Weekends
Due to a huge amount of members, play can get very Slow on weekends... That being said, it's a very fun course that is moderately difficult but scoreable. Always in good condition. Have played it many times and will be back.
Excellent course
The course was in excellent condition. Tee boxes, fairways, rough were well taken care of and the grass was perfect. The greens were fast and true. The layout was great, moderate difficulty but very playable. They have a cart on the course for what ever you need. Fantastic clubhouse and the staff is friendly and knowledgable. Worth return trips.
