Frustrating course for non-regulars

I can't speak for the back nine, as i've only played the front 9 three different times. This course is very frustrating. At least 6 of the first 9 holes, you're hitting blind shots. This might be ok if the carts had gps maps or something, but as this is a small time course, they're not going to have that kind of amenity. It seems like almost every hole has a ridge in the middle of it so you can't see how the hole is laid out or see the landing area. They didn't have tee box markers out when i was here last time either so i was just kind of guessing distances. Lots of trees too, which is fine in the challenge that presents, but coupled with not being able to see the greens, you're not exactly sure where to hit to avoid bad angles later on. I'm sure this is a fun course if you know the ins and outs, but until then i feel like I'd need a spotter! If you're just wanting a laid back atmosphere though, its cheap enough to have some fun.

Great Northland Course

Played Cardinal Hill in early November. Course was in fantastic condition. Fairways and greens were superb. You could see where they've been trimming back some of the native areas to make a challenging course more playable for higher handicaps. Very scenic course that meanders through the countryside. Streams, lakes, abundant wildlife everywhere. Clubhouse was cozy and very presentable. Staff were very friendly - they made me feel welcome. Pace of play was quick - i was able to get in 18 holes in less than 3 hours. Couldn't beat the price. Would much rather play here than Shoal or Hodge. Highly recommend this course to everyone wanting a great overall experience. Almost forgot - their cheeseburgers are amazing!

Good course, blind shots

I live near this course and played it many times. So often that I'd forgotten how many blind shots there are. I took my brother and nephew and found myself having to frequently describe their hopeful landing area which got frustrating for them. It's a nice course but nothing special to look at. No dramatic altitude changes or ponds to hit over and therefore it's way more challenging than it looks. Most of the greens are raised with out of bounds usually behind and to at least one side. So shots into the green that just miss often ricochet o.b.. I guess a bit of playing advice would be to miss the greens short. There's a range and a nice putting/chipping/sand practice area. This is a nice and well maintained public course at reasonable prices. I would choose it over Hodge Park because it's usually not as busy, in better shape, and cheaper. But Hodge is easier and if you are going to either without someone who's played there before, Hodge might be more enjoyable.
