Best course in the city

Have played JCCC many times over the years. I was surprised to see it had not been reviewed so I thought I would be the first to do so!

The character of the course is defined by the plethora of mature trees that line every hole and the undulating greens. I feel this course is more well-bunkered than most and if you are playing the appropriate tees, you will be forced to navigate around them to be successful.

The conditioning at JCCC has always been great when I have been out. The greens are usually well cared for and pretty quick even by country club standards.

The difficulty level of the course is somewhat dependent on how far you can hit it off of the tee. The fairways are not exceptionally wide and the corridors between the tree lines on most holes is also fairly narrow. In my experience, the rough is generally pretty lush so finding the fairway is very important. It is not a "bomb and gouge" type layout but the longer hitters can have success with less than driver off of many tees.

The staff has always been great to me and the practice facilities are perfectly acceptable. The range is a bit on the small side but the practice green is great so overall I think it meets the needs of every golfer.

The course could use some significant tree removal. Both to highlight some of the finer specimen trees as well as to return the course to the original Foulis design "feel".

A must play if you are in Jeff City and get the opportunity. Short of driving about 45 minutes to Columbia, it is the best course in the area.
