Fun course for a great price!
I always enjoy playing this course. Challenging holes and you have to manage your fairway drive. The greens are in good condition. If your in the Columbus, MS area, this is a fun course to play!⛳️
Saturday with the sons-in -law.
Lion Hills was in the best shape that I’ve seen it in a number of years. The greens were in the best shape I’ve ever seen them.
Good Value. Good run. Fair Play
Lions Hill was a overall very fair course for its price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If your looking for a challenging course look somewhere else. Every hole was a very straight forward approach. Greens were in Poor condition. Would recommend to golfers who want a quick cheap round.
Not worth playing even less than half price.
Bad tee boxes
Fairways aren’t bad but if you miss them on the front 9 your ball is not playable and most likely gone forever with the exception of hole 8. Back 9 is much more open with playable shots from the rough. Hazards on the back 9 are punishing but fair.
Greens are painted green making it harder to read the grain. The grass is obviously dying and it’s kept so low you can’t read the grain at the cup either. They roll extremely fast despite feeling soft underfoot and appearing as if they would be slow. A couple of them played significantly slower than the majority causing trust issues with speed the rest of the round.
Bunkers were well kept for dependable shots out of the sand. That and the increased playability on the back 9 are the only two positives. If you like really fast greens you can call that a highlight too I suppose.
I usually come home with more balls than I leave with. I lost 9 at Lion Hills. Admittedly it was one of my worst rounds but the course provides no relief at all on the front 9.
In my opinion, there are at least two courses in Columbus that are better for similar or lower cost. Especially when you include the cost of balls.
Could really be a nice place
As the title says. This course could be a very nice course if the crew would learn how to cut the fairway grass and the fringe of the greens. Clippings left thick in the fairways and mower deck cuts on the fringe. The front 9 is all of hills and a good layout. The back is all flat and nice. The greens are in great shape. Overall it’s a nice playing course
Good Decision
Derek, (the Sup) has the greens going back to good condition. Challenging course with two COMPLETELY different side. One side is flat, and the other is unique with lots of hills and draws. Can be very challenging. Course employees are extremely friendly.
Without a doubt the absolute worst golf course I’ve ever played. Whoever is supposed to be maintaining this course doesn’t have a clue how to do so. Would never play this course again not even for free
Greens in rough shape
Played on a Saturday afternoon and it was wide open. Course length provides challenges from each tee for proper skill of golfer. All greens were heavily over sanded to the point it looked like landing on a bunker with each approach shot. Large dead spots on greens made putting near impossible on several holes. Outside of that course was enjoyable but very difficult to give a strong review when greens weren’t very playable.
Nice Place!
Course, staff, and other players were 10/10. A few of the greens were in bad shape though. Will definitely be back!
Hot day at Lion Hills
The good: Course layout has potential. A number of tees for different skill levels. Great price through GolfNow. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Course was not crowded (it was a Wednesday morning).
The not so good: Tee boxes need to be leveled and grass cut. Lots and lots of weed trimming needed along edges of cart paths, etc. Greens had lots of dead spots. Carts paths need repairs. Too many back jarring bumps.
