Highland National Golf Course is a popular course that is easily accessible from all over the Twin Cities. It's a local favorite that has hosted many qualifiers for Minnesota state championships over the years. The traditional layout reopened in 2005 after two years of construction. The new course is longer and tougher than the original design but it is still a fair game. The fairways range in length and difficulty but you'll see wider fairways on the front nine. It's a good course for those who are learning the game, just as Charles Schulz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip, did. The signature hole at Highland National, the par-4 15th, even has a Snoopy-shaped bunker as a tribute to the St. Paul native.
