Course Condition Poor - Don't golf here
Overall the Tee boxes are in rough to terrible condition. A number of Tee boxes are temporary. The fairways are in need of more grass and watering. The rough is very inconsistent. They go from dry and hard packed to US open grass height. The greens are in good condition and receptive. They run slow based on the other course I have played this year.
Very nice course
Challenging layout really makes you hit a lot of different shots, scenic course with nice fall color this time of year. Course is still in great shape, new ownership has really improved the entire experience. Get out while you can!
fairway and greens were rough
Fairways were muddy in many areas due to the heavy rains. Greens were very soft, slow, and in rough shape. It appears that the greens keepers need some training in keeping the greens green.
Great Course
Great layout, good fairways, consistent greens and a gem of a course, only to get better with age. Would defiantly play again even though an hour drive from Minnesota.
Not my favorite
Tee boxes were very beat up and uneven.
Greens were some of the slowest, flattest and easiest I've played in a while. As long as I hit it hard enough and straight enough, I felt like pretty much every putt was makeable, even lag putts.
Rough was thin and cut short.
Lots of strategically placed bunkers around greens and/or fairways on all but about 3 or 4 holes, which really helped to keep each shot interesting. However, they could have been maintained a little better.
The course layout was one of my favorite parts of the course. I liked the variety of hole designs and placements of bunkers, trees, water, etc.
One of my least favorite things about this course, however, was all the bugs. Some of which were pretty nasty/annoying, like biting deer flies and others.
Thank you for our review on our course!! My husband and I recently bought it in March and have had a lot of work to do to get it to where it is. I hope you come back and play it again! It gets better and better each day.
Thanks again!! We really appreciate your business!

Diamond in the rough
Wow what a pleasant surprise I read some of the reviews on golf now about how this used to be a "goat farm" I arrive today to find a beautiful course in excellent shape well taken care of and a pleasant surprise of how few people were there on a Sunday afternoon. I would play here just about any day of the week, and will be back soon. Great job PGC. I drove all the way from St. Cloud to try your course, glad I did!
THANK YOU!! We have worked very hard this year trying to get the course back.
We appreciate your business!

A big improvement
I've been going to this course since 2005 and I've been a member for 5 years. I wasn't sure if I was going to pay for my membership this season because for the past few years the shape of the course was in poor condition.
Well.....that was last year. What a big difference this year! The new owners have made a big difference. The condition of the course is MUCH better. You see the improvements and you know that the grounds crew has been working hard to improve and maintain the course. The entire staff is friendly and always provide great service. That being said, I did become a member this year.
OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!!!!
After the last few years my golf group had given up on PGC. But after hearing about the changes new management was making we decided to give it another try. The difference from last year (2015) to this year was astonishing. Fairways and rough look great. Bunkers actually have sand in them. And the greens are coming back great! Staff was friendly and the food after our round was excellent. I urge you to give PGC another chance.
Great new beginning
The new owners are doing and excellent job on bringing this course back. I was one of the unfortunate ones to be a member last year and it was a goat farm. But now you look and it is really coming back. The grounds crew is doing a excellent job. The staff is great it is nice to see people with smiles on their faces. The restaurant is awesome and the food is really good. This year I would tell friends and other people to come give this place a try.
The hidden gem is back
I have golfed here for years. I even stayed through the last years and watched it slowly go down hill. Well, guess what. ...It's back. Most of it is back to when the course was in it's prime, a few greens were so bad last year that they need some more time to recover. The management is a on base. The restaurant is full of good food and smiles. Thank you to the new owners for saving our course. I am back telling people to try out this HIDDEN GEM only short trip from the Twin Cities.
New ownership
After years of not being taken care of we have new owners that are comitted to getting this course back in the condition it once was.15 of the 18 greens are looking good.the other 3 will take while.they now have a full grounds crew, pro shop and bar, retaurant.we are happy to have the new owners here and expect to see continued improvement.I have played in league here for ten years and the last few years sucked.but those days are over.come check it out and support the new ownership
NEW MANAGEMENT
I am so happy to see the repairs and updates brought on by the new owners & management. The course looks great, the food is fantastic, the rates are competitive and the staff is friendly. Thank you for returning Princeton Golf Course to our community!
Glad to see new ownership & management!
It was very pleasant to see that PGC is coming back on the map. The staff is making huge strides in helping bring this course back to its former quality.
The new ownership (2016) has clearly invested in making the right efforts to repair the poor treatment the course received for the last few years. This has brought about a lot of excitement to the town of Princeton and all the people who enjoyed playing this course for the past decades.
The staff is professional and friendly, and the restaurant vastly improved. Hint- try the wings! So so good!
New Management
We played Princeton golf course, we have played many courses around the north metro. The course is laid out well and the fairways were in great condition. The NEW MANAGEMENT was very friendly and accomadating! There are some really great shots, the course is a good combination of precision and ability to let some shots just rip.
My favorite was the 15th Par 5 played from the blue forcing you to go over the river twice to a tight fairway. EXCITED TO PLAY again this summer as new management continues to improve this course.
GREAT VALUE FOR CHALLENGE
You will be eaten alive!
I have golfed for over 20 years and have never seen that many mosquitoes on a golf course. I put on about a gallon of repellent and it didn't slow then down a bit. I asked one of the staff and his response was, "the owner is too cheap to spray." Will never golf there again! 2 people in our 4 some quit after 9.
Horrible
This course needs to be overrun by goats. A perfect goat track.
Sad course
I have been a resident of Princeton for a majority of my life. I have worked at this course on the grounds crew and have witnessed the irresponsible management throughout the last 5 years. The course is a swamp right now. Nothing about this course would make someone ever want to choose it over any of the surrounding courses. Simple things like cutting the grass, spraying for weeds, and raking the bunkers are difficult for this owner to figure out. Who would want to play at a course that makes it impossible to find a ball that is even slightly off the fairway? I feel bad for the few employees of the course who have to look the patrons in the eye and tell them how much it will cost, knowing very well that the golf experience they will get is probably only worth about $5. The fact that this course is priced comparable to courses like Milaca is a joke. Sell the course or find a way to pay someone to maintain it.
Sincerely, Jordan Neubauer
Step it up Princeton GC....please
I'll cut them slack because we've had a lot of rain lately but hit the fairways or you'll never find your ball. The rough is just too high. Couldn't find many balls that were only a foot or two off of the fairway. I've played there 5-6 times beginning last season. Last year the carts were junk. No suspension and felt like you were going to rip the clutch right out of it. I was told last year that their carts were at the end of there lease cycle and they would be getting changed out. Well....... The carts are still garbage this year. They better have a super hot deal on golfnow with no other options for me to return. Sorry Princeton GC. You lost me.........
Best Kept Secret in the Twin Cities!
This course is a gem! Lots of water and mature trees on this charming course with character. Not your typical up and back layout as with most courses. It is spread out over 230+ acres along the scenic Rum River. Lots of dog legs and long iron shots to make it fun for every level of golfer. The staff is super nice and friendly! It is totally worth the trip up Hwy 169 to play this best kept secret in golf in the Twin Cities!
Thank you for your review on the course!! It means a lot to me!
