One of my favorites
Staffs friendly, course us well maintained, and every tuesday thursday its $20 all you can play, all day with a cart. Ill usually play at least two rounds. Cant beat this course in the houghton higgins lake area
We have been golfing for two years. Very friendly and forgiving course. Excellent greens. Will definitely play again!
Nice little track!! Well taken care of especially this early in the season...
a nice little track
This would be a good course to play as a beginner or someone who is just looking to get out. it's in pretty decent shape. Not a lot of sand or water (enough for me to find a bit though).
it was a perfect course for a fun round, two person scramble. Rates were reasonable and the course is in good shape, MUCH better than the 3 who had played it remembered it to be in.
Small greens though. You need to be spot on with your short game
Very good condition.
The course is in good shape. It is an older course and does not have all the fancy bunkers and mound like newer ones but is enjoyable.
New owners have greatly improved the course
What a pleasure to play this course. It was in terrible condition just a few years ago, but the new owners have done a great job bring the course back to par. It is an easy course, but that is what we wanted. We shall return throughout the summer.
Nice course
Staff friendly. Well manicured. Not difficult little water or sand traps not crowded very convenient to south Higgins Lake or north Houghton lake
Good bang for your buck
Pretty wide open. Greens are a little rough.
But over all really good bang for a hot deal !!!
Good affordable course
Course had a nice layout presenting some challenges. Some of the greens weren't in the best condition which is the only issue I had. Would play again for the money.
Cheap
I used to play this when it was called burning oak, and nothing has changed. The reason it was played the. And now is the result of price alone. Northern golf courses aren't cheap, but are usually more difficult and a much better experience than metro Detroit courses. I would argue, in the case if redwood, this is quite the opposite. I also believe, however, that you get a decent value for the price just because you won't find 18 and a cart for 20 anywhere near higgins lake. With all of this being said, I will be back. I appreciate this course over pine view and white deer. However, if the tamaracks off of 127 had this deal or was 10 to 15 more expensive that would be the selection everytime. Obviously as you move a little further south the dream and he nightmare are certainly good choices. This is a cheapy warm up round but your score won't reflect that you have improved type of course. That's all
greens in terrible condition
Very sorry greens. Much disease over winter. Should have been in better Condon by July.
improved track
This local track has improved since changing over to Redwood and they are continuing to make it better. Fairways lush, tee boxes in decent shape, greens a little shaggy but for $20 incl cart, I'll play it often this summer.
Redwood
This course looks like it was neglected and the new owner is giving it some much needed TLC, the greens are showing signs of winter kill, but there was grounds crew out there working on them. Golf here this year will be a challenge do the greens , the fairways are good and it looks like they are trying to makes the roughs more challenging. This is a GREAT value course today and I'm sure it will cost more next year and be worth it.
Great family course
Had a wonderful time with my young son. Great friendly staff and awesome food, my compliments to Ashley the cook :)
not fun
We we're told[my wife and I] that because we are early for our tee time the price may be different.[never had that happen before]. On the second hole there was a threesome that could not play very well but they did not offer to let us [twosome] play thru. We skipped to third tee and played around them. On our way to #10 there were new groups on tee, and when I asked if they were told to start on 10 they said yes . We went in clubhouse to find out what was going on and she told us we should go around them, we could not do that because there were players ahead that would not be very happy. We left. They are not running this golf course correctly. Also the greens have holes in them, the ball bounced all over.
Great Value and Great People
I took my 6 year-old son and it was his first time playing 18 holes. We had a great time and the people were very friendly. Nice little hidden course in Northern Michigan away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
