Forest Dunes Golf Club has a reputation as one of the best golf courses in Michigan. The course sprawls across 500 acres of pristine woodlands within the Huron National Forest. Tom Weiskopf designed the layout, calling it one of his top three favorite courses he's created in the U.S. The masterfully crafted course covers diverse terrain ranging from wide open meadows to dense forests of century-old red and jack pines to rugged native dunes. There are several features of the course that truly stand out, one of the most prominent being the emphatically sculpted tee boxes that are surrounded by wild fescue rough, a nod to traditional ocean links golf courses. The par-4 17th is both one of the most picturesque and most difficult holes. Known for his short par 4s, Weiskopf added a risk-reward element to this 302-yard hole, which flows across dramatic sand dunes framed by fescue grasses.
