Wolcott Mill Metropark Golf Course

The course was not in bad shape. Metro Parks do maintain their golf courses pretty good. There were a few green with brown spots. The green were maintained nice and had a good speed to them. Fairways were cut nice

Not bad for the price / glorified driving range in my opinion / everything pretty straight and short.

The fairways and greens were nice and soft.

But a bunch of he tee boxes are real close to the greens, which you can get it into on a little slice of hook.

I definitely enjoyed my outing at Wolcott Mill. It features some challenging greens but was still fun to play for a player at my level.

The afternoon pace of play is good for working on your game.

This course is not a premier course by any stretch of the imagination. It presents me with as much challenge as I can handle. Its got some length, some narrowness, some water and mostly small greens. On this day we encountered very wet conditions, a huge downpour occurred two days before and there was a lot of puddles to deal with everywhere. It does have a strange setup at the turn, if you want to break at the club house, you hit your 10 tee shot, take your short break, then go back and finish the hole out. Pretty strange. Its a pretty good deal if you get the senior rates or Golfnow prices. Try it.

Poor drainage of fairways, much standing water on most fairways. many times you would see your ball splash as it hit fairways. greens were in pretty good shape. cart was a little balky. lost a couple of balls in middle of fairway.

Fun course, greens were in nice shape. No great holes but fun to play. A little flat but river going through course some heather and bunkers. All the metro park course are maintained well.

Wolcott Mill is what it is, a straight forward golf course where the novice golfer can come out and have a good time. I agree with some previous reviewers, the fairway grass is a little long. Even though this is generally an easy course, if u don't hit the fairway,u will pay the price, rough was a brute today. I like playing courses like this occasionally. 25 bucks is not the greatest value.....would much rather play Oak Ridge or Richmond for the same rate.

Wife and I had an ejoyable afternoon at the course. We don't play well but, had a great time. Not too hard and not too easy.

Course was fun, fairly easy to play but in great condition very well kept!

Price on GolfNow was $25 for 18 holes. That price included a cart as well. Overall, for that amount of money, I was fairly happy with the course difficulty. The course was fairly maintained, but the bunkers and some fairways need some work. There also isn't very many hazards to deal with on the course, so it's not as difficult as I would have liked. If you're interested in getting out there and just blasting drives down the fairway, this is a great course for your money. Went around 1045 AM and we got onto the 1st tee box immediately. Traffic was steady throughout the day, but we never felt rushed at all. Staff is pretty friendly as well.

First golf cart didn't start, 2nd golf card died on first hole; fairways were not cut short, or not at all? Therefore, golf balls did not roll at all on the fairway or no discernible difference between rough and fairway.

Played this course once before, about two years ago, and will not return.

Greens were in excellent condition, the fairways were NOT. Not sure when they were cut last but the fairways were taller than the first cut at other courses. That being said, Im used to playing out of the taller grass so it didnt bother me. I will definitaly play here again.

The course is very female friendly, in good shape and is a fun course to play. A good challenge for all golfers.
