The NMU Golf Course, formerly known as Chocolay Downs, is part of Northern Michigan University and is located in the southern part of the city of Marquette, Mich., about nine miles from NMU's main campus.
NMU Golf Course is well known for its ninth hole, with one of the world's largest golfing greens at more than 29,000 square feet.
Trivia: Chocolay Downs Golf Course was known for having the world longest hole ( the par-6 6th which measured 1,007 Yards ). After becoming NMU Golf Course, the hole was shorten to 440 yards.
