Great course, super shape, great value.
I'm an honest 16.5 index player who plays by the rules. This course is a GEM, it has every shot you can imagine and then a few you haven't thought of yet. It's rated at 126 from the whites but, plays like 132. Greens are fabulous and true, fairways are plush and sometimes a little soft due to the way they hold water. Scenic holes and beautiful layout. Wish I lived closer, I travel 2 1/2 hrs. to this course but, it's worth the drive. Fabulous log cabin clubhouse and bar for a brewski after your round.
well kept course
Course was in good shape, pins were in tricky spots. Greens rolled well
Very Scenic course.
This was my 4th trip to Thornapple Creek this year, and that says a lot for the course right there. I live in Grandville Mi and have over a dozen courses within 10-15 mins of my house but I drive 45mins to go down there to play. Its one of the most scenic courses that you can play in SW Mi and its always in perfect condition. Fairways and rough are green and lush and the greens are very receptive. Just wish they were faster. The greens look great but are pretty slow. Over all its one of the best courses you can play under $50.00
needs more mowing, especially around greens,it your ball rolls off the green, impossible chip to get it close, grass is gnarly
First tee, drove it 240 down the middle only to find the "fairway" dissappeared to nothing and I was in US open rough. Set the tone for the day.Drainage a problem on holes 1,2,and 4 for days after wet weather.. The course needs a good shave, this would also dry out the course more quickly, the greens need a first and second cut around them, as the greens are smallish and do not hold approach shots. Making the course more fair and player friendly would increase play there..I booked through golfnow 18holes. They had a big outing they chose to send off the back 9, the guy at the front desk was not helpful and said, you will have to book a tee time to turn because we are booked solid on the back. I said I booked 18 through golfnow, he acted like that was my problem. When we got to the back 9, it was wide open and not even a problem. Won't play there again anytime soon
Challenging greens, good condition.
Course has tough greens made even tougher by inconsistent speeds from green to green. Overall nice place and good value with some interesting holes with water and woods on many holes.
slow play
had an outing in front of us, very slow play. they should have put us on the other 9 first, big mistake by management.
excellent condition
the course was in excellent shape from tee to green. I told my partner that I was definitely going to try to come back within a month to play it again.
Fun Course
Thornapple goes through alot of changes. One minute it seems like your on a links & then your on a mountain course. I think I used every club in my bag. It is a fun couse & you will get all the exercise u need
Course OK, staff unfriendly
Guy behind the counter was a jerk. Paired up our 3 some with a single with a bunch of twosomes in front and behind us....
Not overly challenging or long, but beautiful
Course was in great shape. They use the pond very well and lay the course out well. Some tee boxes were a little close to the previous tee, which I wasn't a big fan of when on the tee or hitting into the green. Still a gorgeous course. Mandatory cart paths on 1/3 of the holes or more due to soft ground.
Not really fo high handycappers
a hard course with narrow fairways and tough greens
Fun and challenging
Fun layout, good mix of holes, very challenging greens. Pace of play sometimes pretty slow
Great course
First time playing here and certainly not my last.
Wonderful course with just the right amount of challenge.
All the staff i came across were great from the pro shop to the girl with the drinks cart. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a great day out.
Played as a single . Had a great time.
I hadn't played this course in about 15 years and it hasn't changed much. Still a great layout. The biggest change was to #16 and it improved the hole a hundred fold. Instead of a blind second shout into an "island green", they have made the hole playable by widening the walkway an creating a reasonable landing area. I had a very enjoyable experience.
Very nice course for the money.
Very nice course for the money.I had not played this course in a few years. They have a great log cabin club house.
Course was in magnificent shape
The course was in perfect shape and quite challenging. An excellent deal, couldn't beat the price!
Challenging greens.
I have played the course before. Always liked it. Last time it snowed on the fourth hole. Had to take a short break, Then finished. Much warmer this time.
good value
The coarse is maintained well, the greens are challenging, but you better stay in the fairway, there is a lot of water. All in all it's a great coarse for the money.
This course is a great deal!
This course is in beautiful condition this year!! I was hesitant after last years condition but was delighted to see that I it was just due to last years drought. What an awesome course! I will be sure to be booking there again.....soon!!
Up north feel.
I loved this course. Well kept greens that were very challenging. Picturesque setting. I will definitely play this again.
Thank you for the kind words. See you in the Spring!
