The Highlands Golf Club in Grand Rapids is one of West Michigan's premier golfing facilities. Dating back to the early 1900s, the course is a classic Donald Ross layout. Over the years it has hosted a number of PGA and LPGA events and has been played by big names including Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, and Jack Nicklaus. The golf course has a timeless design that is subtly deceptive but not overly punishing. It provides a good test while still remaining approachable for beginners. There isn't any water on the course but mature trees line the fairways and there are several strategically placed bunkers to avoid. In the century that the golf course has been open, Highlands has gained a following among locals not only for the quality of the round but also the affordable rates.
