general comments
Good course for the average duffer. Greens were a bit slow and the course gets a lot of use during summer so showed its seasonal wear and tear. Overall it p[ays longer than most in this area but you don't lose a ton of golf balls had a fun time watching my grandson who's just a beginner beat me by couple strokes. We will do it again soon I hope
Get what u pay for
It's worth it if u catch a hot deal fer 12-16 bucks. Beats a bucket of range balls.
Terrible drainage
This is the first time I golfed the course this year. It has always held water after rain, but there were lakes out there where there isn't supposed to be any water. Hopefully it will dry up, but I will not be going back until it does.
Excellent Course
Course was in great condition, even after a ton of rain in the days leading up to my round. Good mix of long and short holes. Rough area could have been cut a bit shorter, and clippings raked/bagged, but that's just being picky. Overall, this is a great course, and I will be back in the future!
Watch those Mosquitos
I have had a good impression of this course prior, but this time the course seemed unattended and dry. Greens were all cut differently and a few were cracked. Mosquitos infestation almost made playing a few holes impossible. Made being in the shade horrible!!! Drunk foursome behind us made for a not so fun time.
Decent course
We paid 16 dollars each with cart and that was just about right. The tee boxes, (especially for the ladies were not in very good condition) But for that price it was to be expected. The greens were overall in pretty good shape but the rough was very very patchy.
It's a nice little course to just get out and practice your shots.
Worth the drive.
This course was in very good condition with nice fairways (shame I didn't get to play off many of them.) and greens in good condition with very few pitch marks to be seen. There was only one bad green on the course and it was explained to me that it had frost damage and was under repair before I started my round.
The staff are very friendly and willing to see that you are happy as best they can during your round. Food and drink facilities are very nice with a fully stocked bar to drown your sorrows after a bad round.
What happened to this place ??
I LOVED this course !! Fond memeories from 09' thru 2011 .... last time I played it.... out of maybe 15 times before that. Never again !! POOR EVERYTHING. I honestly would pay $6 for 18 holes and only stay for about 2 hours, which is about 3 holes. Only positive note is I hit my 3 wood over 275 yards four times on this course.... It carries 212 - 218 everywhere else (read: rock hard).
Bumpy fairways with small greens
Played the front nine around 1pm. Cart had a GPS screen on the top which was nice to use. The fairways were very bumpy throughout the course, and the greens were small. The course is usually flat, with straight holes. Only one hole did a slight dog-leg left.
Low w/e fee ($25) is reflected in current poor conditions.
Saturday 8am. One employee; taking money, answering the phone, hustling the carts from barn. Every trash receptacle was full to the top. Fairways were trimmed, however many bare spots were visible on all. 10:30am, making the turn and stop for snack. That one employee has added server and cook/chef to her duties. I have played before, several years ago, very disappointed this time around.
Party Course
Course conditions were poor. Weeds everywhere on the fairways, sand traps and tees. Greens were damaged with cracking and scuffing. But they were serving JELLO shots from the beer cart. So you could have a Nice Shot on every hole.
I really like this course.
I have been playing Highland for years. They are making alot of improvements the last couple of years.
Don't waste your money
This course was hardly a golf course. The fairways never seem to get watered and the greens were terrible. I wouldn't even pay $1 to play 9 holes at a course like this, let alone what they are charging. Some serious maintenance is required on the whole course and I will never waste my money here again. If I could give it a negative star, I would. Sadly it used to be in decent shape but there seems to be no investment taking place.
Course has nice length for par 4 or 5 holes.
Course was very rough and greens where awful with gaps between the dryed raised plugs.Place needs a good grounds keeper who knows what they are doing.
Nice little track for the money
The course has some nice features. Fairly open in some area and has some challenging holes as well.
Nice course, good surrounding environment
Good course for the money. Nice greens. Need to remind the young guys/kids to not throw their beer cans all over the place.
You Get What You Pay For
It was $20 to play 18 w/cart. Knowing this, I wasn't expecting much with the course. The conditions were OK. It's pretty wide open. The greens were in pretty good shape actually. Not really any true rough. This is a great course for mid-to-high handicappers.
Nice course for a weekend hack
This course got slammed in a previous review but I kind of liked it. I would agree if you are a low handicap/par golfer this course would be boring. However I shoot in the 47-52 range for nine holes and the course is a bargain for the money. I can usually play for 12-18$ per round. The course needs some maintenance but I have definitely played worse. I enjoyed playing a shorter course. My group was behind a senior league so play was slow however I had a beginner with me so it was not a big deal. Overall I would golf this for fun and value. If you are looking for magnificent courses and a challenge though I agree to go for Dunham Hills.
