Very nice course
Only issue was that we weren’t notified that there would be no carts available due to rain overnight. We got a hot deal with cart included. We had to use their push carts with no brakes and we were told that they would call it even. If notified we would have brought our own push carts. Golf now reimbursed us something
Glad to come back
I haven’t been there in 10 years. I was so impressed with the fairways and most importantly the greens. They are the best greens I have seen in this area . They are Florida quality !!! The staff was so friendly and the 3 some I was paired with. The course is very challenging so bring your “a” game. Thanks Braintree municipal for a great day . I can’t believe I waited this long to come back. Can’t wait to tee off there again. 👍 i highly recommend this course , you won’t be disappointed..
Pace of Play is only downfall
This course is in amazing shape, they always do a great job at managing it and honestly it has only got better year after year. The biggest downfall is the pace of play. As a public course, you have to expect some bad golfers to be ahead of you that can really slow up the pace. Same with older golfers. Our first 9 holes took over 3 hours to finish due to a group of old men ahead of us. Unfortunately the ranger was no where in site the entire time so we had to eventually yell up to them to get moving as the round was well on pace for 5 hours+. That said, the course is great and will certainly be back.
Good course, amazing value
Don't be fooled by the fact that this course has "municipal" in the name. Braintree is kept in great shape and IMO plays as nice as any of the other mid-priced public courses in the greater boston area.
The greens are well cared for and spacious, the fairways are uniform and green, and the rough is nicely grown in with very few bare patches.
Additionally there are a couple different food options available with both a snack shack at the turn and full clubhouse.
Will be back eventually for sure.
Pace of play was an issue
I'm a big fan of the course itself. Pace of play this day was bad. Multiple backups on both the front and back 9 stuck behind different groups. Played on a Friday at 1pm and didn't finish until 5:30pm. At 5pm on the 16th hole, the ranger told us that no matter what we had to stop playing and head back to the cart return at 5:30 on the dot (no exceptions). If pace of play had been properly maintained we would have been done an hour beforehand. Hit tee shots on the 18th hole and were told that we had to head back in immediately despite there being plenty of light to finish up. Left a sour taste in my mouth at the end of the round, but will be back regardless because I enjoy the course.
Staff Friendliness superb
Played on a rainy day. But, had an excellent time. The course layout is solid and the staff (starter and café) were outstanding.
Hidden gem
Really enjoyed my time at Braintree Muni. All of the staff couldn't have been nicer and the bar/restaurant is very reasonably priced. Course layout wasn't overly difficult but there were some blind shots including the first tee shot. Greens were very firm and moving well. 3-4 greens were aerated, but we were warned about this before the round. The only hole with houses on the side was 1. The rest of the holes were completely lined with trees and ponds which was beautiful with the leaves changing. Would highly recommend this course, especially during the fall.
Excellent Hidden Gem!
Great course, there was some water damage due to the heavy rains ,but were spotty throughout the course .Nice and flat, holes are not crammed together .Would highly recommend if looking for a nice course near Boston.
No Singles
Course itself very nice, but giving a one star as they will force singles into threesomes and twosomes even if there are no groups teeing off for the previous hour, leaving PLENTY of space in front. They were trying to hold me back for 15-20 minutes to go off with the next booked tee time, foolish behavior. Overall rude attitude from employees, feels like an old boys club being funded by town taxpayers.
Stay Away
Course was fine, if a bit wet. Customer service was extremely poor esp in a customer service industry. Our cart broke down on 5th hole. When we called the clubhouse for a solution we were chastised that we “broke the cart”. The correct answer should have been, “Sorry this happened. I’ll bring another one right over.” Our pace of play was rather slow as the weather was nice and there was no one behind us for the final 9 holes. On hole 17 (yes, hole 17!) the ranger came over to tell us to move along as we were 20 minutes behind schedule. When asked why we needed to move along with no one behind us, his response was, “I run this course, not you.” No need to subject myself to this from the staff on a golf course.
