Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland was established in 1924 to offer an informal setting where business leaders and Washington politicians could meet as peers in a relaxed setting. Devereux Emmet designed Congressional's Blue Course and it has since been renovated by numerous architects including -- most recently -- Rees Jones. The course is known for its wide, challenging greens, rolling terrain and tree-lined fairways. Often considered among the best 100 courses in the United States, the 7,250-yard Blue Course is a par 72, but plays as a par 70 for pro tournaments and has a course and slope rating of 75.4/142. Bent grass is used for the fairways and for the greens.
